Edmonton defeated Detroit 2-1, St. Louis knocked off Colorado 5-1, New Jersey pulled off a win on the road 4-1 in Carolina, Chicago kept rolling with a 4-3 victory against Dallas, the red-hot New York Rangers continued their dominance with a 5-2 win over Winnipeg, and Anaheim pulled off a 4-1 win at home in the late game versus Calgary.

Svatos Passes Away at 34-Years-Old
In sad news early Sunday, former NHLer and longtime Avs forward Marek Svatos passed away in his Colorado home. Kadri Hit Not Illegal
As Tim Chiasson over at Editor in Leaf puts it, the Nazem Kadri hit on Daniel Sedin Saturday night was “greasy, but definitely not illegal.” This topic seemed to set social media on fire Sunday following the announcement that Kadri escaped supplemental discipline. [Editor in Leaf]

This Nazem Kadri situation has me pretty riled up personally. I’ve seen numerous comments uttering similar nasty sentiments from the Canucks fan base that are pretty disappointing. Social media can be a bit crazy as is, but this situation was taken to another level.
If you’ve ever caught one of my heated editorials in the past, you’ll know what to expect. If you haven’t, keep your eye out in the next day or two. I’ve got a bone to pick with certain trends that have evolved in the post-salary cap era that are particularly disturbing. Here’s a teaser: We’re putting an incredible amount of extra effort into player safety, but the players aren’t holding up their end of the bargain. You’ve got certain responsibilities when you play a game at such a high speed where a pair of 200 pound freight trains can do a lot of damage upon collision.
