Poor Canucks fans are on an emotional rollercoaster in 2016-17. After numerous experts predicted them to finish dead last, Vancouver fans were quick to get on top of folks after the first week of action. Things went a little sideways, which eventually led to a severe scoring drought. Once it seemed they’d finally snapped out of it, the blindside hit to Daniel Sedin occurred.

Since then, they’ve gone 2-3-0, and while they’re starting to find the back of the net, it’s their strongest area through the first four weeks that let them down in week five. Both Ryan Miller and Jacob Markstrom had a tough seven day stretch after arguably carrying this team to start the year.

Wish I had better news for you Canucks fans, but there doesn’t seem to be greener pastures on the horizon. In fact, it could be a very long season of ups-and-downs that play with your emotions. If it helps any, there’s a pair of very promising young prospects vying to be top selections in the 2017 draft. I’m talking about WHL center Nolan Patrick and OHL winger Gabe Vilardi. Here’s two guys that could have an immediate impact as 18-year-olds. – Ryan Ritchie
