NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Letting You Know Which Players You Should Add/Drop Heading Into Week 17, Complete Injury Update, Players of the Week, and More!

Welcome back to our weekly NHL fantasy hockey waiver wire. There are some new players to add to your pool for all three formats, there is also some new injuries listed, as well as players on cold streaks. We’ve also included three new players of the week, so everything you need to know is right here.

Like always, we’re here to help you gain the most out of your hockey pool. Most NHL fantasy pools consist of a weekly total before being reset. So, it’s best to maximize your scoring during that week to either stay in the lead or try to climb the standings. The toughest part is always releasing players, but if you’re in a pool that isn’t very active, you can take those chances.

If you’re in a pool that everyone is involved in daily, at least keep your star players even if they’re going through a cold streak, so they’re not picked up when you release them.

Top Forward of the Week: Mark Scheifele (WPG) – (2GP, 3G, 2A, 5PTS)

More from Editorials

Mark Scheifele has been absolutely solid all year for the Jets and has kicked things up to a new level over the last month and a half.

He’s a fairly tough player to acquire due to the fact he’s only going to be better cause of Patrik Laine, Nikolaj Ehlers etc. But if you can swing a deal for him, chances are you’re going to have to give up a lot.

The positive upside on that is even though you’re giving up a lot, it will be worth it in the long run, but it will be hard to do so.

Top Defenseman of the Week: Erik Karlsson (OTT) – (2GP, 1G, 4A, 5PTS)

Everyone knows Erik Karlsson is top three in the world for among defensemen, so acquiring him is really difficult. So if you’re lucky to have drafted him, you’re in a very solid position, he’s always going to put up amazing numbers year in and year out.

Next: CHL Power Rankings: Week 17 (Top Teams/Players)

Top Goalie of the Week: Peter Budaj (LA) – (2GP, 2W, .963SV%, 1.00GAA, 1SO)

Peter Budaj is a tricky situation, this season for him has been above amazing. You can take a shot on him in hopes next year he repeats under a new team or has solid backup numbers. Or you can not take him at all and him be great next season. So taking Budaj takes a lot of strategical thinking. Cause like stated above, you can take him and give up a lot and him not repeat or repeat and if he doesn’t you lost some solid players. If he does repeat things work out in the end, so he’s one of the biggest wild cards of all fantasy players.
