NHL Daily: Morning NHL Headlines

Rasmus Ristolainen Suspended for Hit on Jake Guentzel.
Rasmus Ristolainen has subsequently been suspended for his open ice hit on Penguins forward Jake Guentzel. It’s not that surprising that he’s gone for three games, the hit was quite dirty, but in some ways, it was also awesome cause who doesn’t love wide open hits? (Sabre Noise)

NHL is Once Again Heading Overseas Next Season.
Sources say that both the Colorado Avalanche and the Ottawa Senators will play two regular season games in Sweden next season. It’s safe to assume that they will be near the start of the season so players can come back and get adjusted. Sweden will be a great place for the NHL to showcase cause Gabriel Landeskog and Erik Karlsson will love to put on a great show in front of their home country. (Fansided)

Panthers Prospect Ian McCoshen May be Ready for NHL Play Soon.
Ian McCoshen is a massive kid, standing at 6 foot three and weighing 218 pounds, he could very well be playing in the NHL next season. He’s excellent at both ends of the ice due to the fact he can control and dictate the pace of play. His defensive skills are just as good, making him a very solid two-way defenceman. And with Aaron Ekblad and Michael Matheson, Ian would be a great fit on that team’s backend. (The Rat Trick)

Toronto Maple Leafs Towering Defenseman Roman Polak Has Been Suspended.
The Leafs will be without Roman Polak for the next two games due to suspension, the reasoning was a major boarding incident involving himself and Blue Jackets forward Oliver Bjorkstrand. Due to the suspension, Alexey Marchenko will be filling the void and earning himself some much-needed ice time if he wants to be a Toronto regular next season. (Editor In Leaf)

Edmonton Forward Patrick Maroon has been Nominated for the Masterton Trophy.
While it not being a major trophy in the sport, the Masterton award is still very significant. It shows us who the best players are on and off the ice which is very influential on the team’s success. Sportsmanship is very important, no one wants a team full of “goons” they want a team full of players who care about the logo in front of them more than they name on the back. (Oil On Whyte)

Pens Forward Jake Guentzel Has Become a Full-Time NHLer.
Due to the outstanding season, he’s had it’s not hard to imagine that the Pens management team is going to keep their young stud on the roster, permanently. And who are we talking about exactly? Jake Guentzel. This season he’s been dynamite putting up 25 points in 35 games along with a plus-six rating. He’s also spent some time in the AHL this season and has been fantastic down there as well, with 42 points in 33 games. The Penguins definitely got themselves a sleeper pick in the 2013 draft when they selected him in the third round. (Pens Labyrinth)
