3. Vancouver Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks have a promising future, but they have to upgrade their blueline. Quinn Hughes is terrific, but they don’t have any other defensemen similar to him. Their defense leaked shots against and chances against during the regular season and postseason. Jacob Markstrom and Thatcher Demko deserve credit for masking their flaws.

According to Patrick Johnston of The Vancouver Province, the Canucks could very well target Dumba to play next to Hughes. He mentions Brock Boeser as a potential part of the return, citing Vancouver’s need to clear some cap space as a reason why.

Personally, I don’t think the Canucks should trade Boeser for Dumba. Boeser’s one of the NHL’s top goal scorers. As good as Dumba is, he’s not equal to Boeser in value. The Wild would have to add more to get Boeser, at least for me.

That said, it’s undeniable Dumba would make sense for the Canucks. The right side of their blueline needs some help. Assuming Dumba is healthy, he would be a significant upgrade over Chris Tanev, who is an unrestricted free agent.
