When Jason Robertson said that he'll let his play do the talking, he was serious.
Jason Robertson (30 goals) has officially entered the 30-goal scorers of the league with Nathan MacKinnon (38 goals) and Connor McDavid (32 goals) after scoring against the St. Louis Blues last Friday. Yet, despite matching the league's best, he remains the only one of the three locked out of the Olympic stage.

When Team USA announced the roster on January 2nd, Jason Robertson was officially the leading American point-scorer in the NHL, carrying an astounding record of 48 points in 41 games. Despite being the most productive U.S.-born player at the time of selection, he was surprisingly left off the list.
As of January 25th, Robertson trails only Jack Eichel of the Vegas Golden Knights for the lead among American players. Yet, while Eichel (61 points) secured his place on USA's Olympic roster, Robertson (60 points) was left waiting for a call that never came.
Comparing Jason Robertson's standings (as of January 25th) with players named to Team USA's roster:
Player | Goals | Points | Team USA Status |
|---|---|---|---|
Jack Eichel | 19 | 61 | IN |
Jason Robertson | 30 | 60 | OUT |
Kyle Connor | 23 | 58 | IN |
Zach Werenski (D) | 19 | 55 | IN |
Jake Guentzel | 24 | 54 | IN |
Matt Boldy | 28 | 53 | IN |
Auston Matthews | 25 | 42 | IN |
Vincent Trocheck | 11 | 32 | IN |
J.T. Miller | 13 | 32 | IN |
Last January 2nd, Team USA revealed the official roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics, and immediately was met with disappointment and confusion.
Fans expressed their emotions on social media as tohow and why Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson was not included, despite him dominating the U.S-born players at the time it was announced.
It wasn't only the fans who were upset. Robertson also admitted his disappointment after being left off the 2026 Olympic roster, but the Dallas Stars forward is letting his play do the talking.
Robertson: “I thought that this year was different from last year. Obviously last year, I didn’t think I was good enough.
— Robert Tiffin (@RobertTiffin) January 3, 2026
Now, I think I did. It’s their choice and their decision, and that's it.”
For the second consecutive year, the 26-year-old has been overlooked for international competitions: first for the 4 Nations Face-Off and now for the 2026 Winter Olympics, yet he remains a relentless force at the top of the NHL leaderboards.
Although Robertson acknowledged that being left off the roster was a personal disappointment, he made it clear that he will stay true to his game and continue the dominant run he's currently on.
"I think I just strive to be the best whenever I can be and it so happened this year was the Olympics year. I mean— that's not going to stop me from doing that the rest of the season.""Jason Robertson on Team USA's decision
It really did not stop him. The statistics don't lie. By continuing to find the back of the net, Jason Robertson is proving every night that he’s not just worthy of an Olympic spot—he’s essential to the Dallas Stars and Team USA.

Whether Team USA can bring home a medal remains to be seen, and we’ll find out how Bill Guerin’s selections fare in Milano this February. In the meantime, Jason Robertson is moving forward with a 'silent statement' of his own, letting his play do the talking.
While the selection committee prioritizes their blueprint for Italy, Robertson is busy building a legacy in Dallas—reminding the world every night that you don't need a roster spot to prove you're the best American in the game.
