Sean Avery has a knack for being involved in stupid things. From his derogatory comments regarding Dion Phanuef and Elisha Cuthbert, to his own NHL rule with Martin Brodeur. This time however, his stupidity landed him in jail.
Avery was arrested early this morning after he reportedly shoved a cop out of his way so he could go back inside of his house.
Avery was having a party of some sorts and was blaring music loud enough where his neighbors called the cops on him. This was said to be the second time they had been to Avery’s home. After shoving the cop and going back inside, Avery was non-compliant until he did eventually come back out of his house.
Reportedly after that he was very cooperative but was still booked for battery of an officer and was held on $20,000 bond.

When the Phoenix Coyotes dealt the rights to goaltender Ilya Brzygalov to Philadelphia, many questioned if they would try taking a run on one of the bigger named goaltending free agents, such as Tomas Vokoun, Ray Emery, Marty Turco, or Jose Theodore.
They responded by getting a few back ups from last season in Curtis McElhinney and Mike Smith.
Smith looks like the goalie going into camp with the number one position and I wouldn’t be surprised if he returns to form like his days with the Dallas Stars. However, there is another side to Phoenix that has a few people puzzled.
Some are calling it the ‘Summer of Forgiveness’ in Phoenix as Phoenix has made some moves bringing back past players who didn’t leave on the best notes.
They started by signing Petteri Nokelainen to a one year deal. Nokelainen, who was acquired by Phoenix from the Anaheim Ducks back in the 2009-2010 season, was actually bought out by the Coyotes after that said.
He played a year over in Jokerit of the SM-liiga and has returned to the Coyotes for the upcoming season.
While odd that a player returns to a team after being bought out from them just a season before, the Coyotes decided to do it again.
This time with Patrick O’Sullivan. O’Sullivan never dressed for a game in Phoenix, unlike Nokelainen, but he was however bought out by the club late in 2010. He was acquired by the Coyotes, from the Edmonton Oilers, in exchange for Jim Vandermeer. He was bought out almost immediately.
It was announced today that O’Sullivan signed a one year, two-way deal with the Coyotes. While likely for the American Hockey League, Patrick could see some NHL time this season.
Mandi Schwartz, we all know her story, a Yale University student who loved the game of hockey. A player in her own right who fit well with brothers Rylan and Jaden, both hockey players playing for the Colorado College of the WCHA.
Mandi was a spirited girl who loved her family, and her family loved her. She had a very different road to climb than the rest of us, as Mandi was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.
The hockey world saw the strength that Mandi had as she battled cancer and three times, Mandi was put into remission.
Sadly, Mandi lost her battle with cancer on April 3rd, 2011. She was only 23 years old.
Brothers Rylan and Jaden still battle with the loss of their sister.
Jaden is using hockey to help remember her sister, and he talked about it TheStar.com, in a must read story.
