A Look Ahead At Tonight’s Match-Ups
1:00PM EDT NHLN, RSNP, ROOT Vancouver Canucks at Pittsburgh Penguins
- Vancouver has won two straight and look to begin their come back in the Pacific Division under head coach John Tortorella. The Penguins have won three straight and look to continue their early season dominance.
2:00PM EDT RSW, RSNE, TVA Edmonton Oilers at Ottawa Senators
- Edmonton is sitting on a five game losing streak and the only win of the season was against the winless Devils. They need to turn things around quickly, and they’ll look to do it against the Senators this afternoon. The Senators are winners of two straight and they look like they may have began to turn their season around.
7:00PM EDT ALT, MSG Colorado Avalanche at Buffalo Sabres
- Colorado was given their first loss of the season a couple nights ago, but they go into Buffalo tonight to play against a struggling Sabres team. The Sabres could use a win tonight to give their team some confidence moving forward.
7:00PM EDT CBC, NHLN, WGN Toronto Maple Leafs at Chicago Blackhawks
- This original six match-up should be a dandy of a game. Toronto has been good this season, and now they travel to Chicago to take on the defending Stanley Cup Champions. Toronto’s hoping to forget the two goal lead they gave up against the Hurricanes and bounce back with a win.
7:00PM EDT CBC, RDS, FSTN Nashville Predators at Montreal Canadiens
- The Predators have five points in the last three games. They’ve been playing better compaired to early on in the season, and will have a tough match-up in Montreal tonight. The Canadiens have been hot winning four straight and will look to continue their streak.
7:00PM EDT MSG, MSG+ New York Rangers at New Jersey Devils
- The New Jersey Devils are still winless on the season and will look to change that tonight at home as the Rangers visit. The Rangers are coming off of a 2-0 win over the Washington Capitals and look to gain a bit of confidence and start some sort of a roll moving forward.
7:00PM EDT SS, MSG+2 Carolina Hurricanes at New York Islanders
- The Hurricanes are coming off a comeback win against the Maple Leafs, and have not been playing bad this season, they’ve just lost a handful of games in overtime they could have closed out. The Islanders on the other hand were beaten in a shootout by the Sabres, but were able to come back and get a win over the Oilers Thursday. They’ll look to continue their success tonight at home.
7:00PM EDT NESN, SUN Boston Bruins at Tampa Bay Lightning
- The Lightning have been off to quite a start. Ben Bishop has been terrific in net, and they’ve been getting a ton of offense. They’ll have a tough task at home tonight against a stingy Boston defense that beat them 3-1 in the opener.
7:00PM EDT FSOH, CSMA Columbus Blue Jackets at Washington Capitals
- Neither Columbus or Washington are off to the start they would have liked, but there’s plenty of time to turn their seasons around, and tonight maybe one of the two teams will be able to start.
7:00PM EDT FSNO, FSFL Minnesota Wild at Florida Panthers
- Minnesota has been outscored 7-2 in the last two games. The offense has struggled, but they’ll have a chance to put that behind them against Tim Thomas and the Florida Panthers who have also been struggling as of late.
9:00PM EDT FSD, FSAZ Detroit Red Wings at Phoenix Coyotes
- The Red Wings have won four straight games, and are coming off of a 4-2 win over the previously unbeaten Colorado Avalanche, but they’ll likely be playing without Niklas Kronwall who suffered a concussion. The Coyotes beat the Red Wings earlier this season already, and will look to do it once again tonight to snap their two game losing streak (both of which were in overtime).
10:00PM EDT CBC, CBCA Calgary Flames at San Jose Sharks
- Calgary is off to a decent start this season getting points in five of six games. They’re coming off a 3-2 loss to Anaheim and will have another tough game tonight against the Sharks in the Shark Tank, which is not the easiest place in the world for opposing teams.
10:30PM EDT FSSW, FSW Dallas Stars at Los Angeles Kings
- Dallas is still feeling the loss of Kari Lehtonen, but they were able to hand the Sharks their first loss on Thursday night. They’ll look to build momentum as they travel to L.A. to take on the Kings.
