Tuesday was a busy night for the National Hockey League, with eight games on the schedule. Without further adieu, here are last night’s NHL scores.

Anaheim Ducks – 2, Toronto Maple Leafs – 4

 

Anaheim Goalscorers: Nick Bonino and Mathieu Perreault

Toronto Goalscorers: Phil Kessel (3) and Dion Phaneuf

Three Stars: 1 – Phil Kessel, 2 – Dion Phaneuf, 3 – James van Riemsdyk

At the Air Canada Centre, Kessel led the way with his fourth career hat-trick, while Jonathan Bernier made 23 saves to lead the Maple Leafs back to the win column.

 

Washington Capitals – 5, Winnipeg Jets – 4 (SO)

 

Washington Goalscorers: Mikhail Grabovski, Alex Ovechkin (2), and Troy Brouwer

Winnipeg Goalscorers: Bryan Little (2), Grant Clitsome, and Blake Wheeler

Three Stars: 1 – Bryan Little, 2 – Alex Ovechkin, 3 – Andrew Ladd

Regulation and overtime didn’t settle things at the MTS Centre, so it was off to a shootout, where Martin Erat scored the winner in the sixth round to give the Capitals their third win in four games.

Vancouver Canucks – 5, New York Islanders – 4 (OT)

 

Vancouver Goalscorers: Ryan Kesler, Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin, Chris Higgins, and Brad Richardson

NYI Goalscorers: Brock Nelson, Matt Moulson (2), and Frans Nielsen

Three Stars: 1 – Daniel Sedin, 2 – Matt Moulson, 3 – Ryan Kesler

Down 4-3 late in the third period, Nielsen sent the game to overtime after converting a rebound from the top of the crease. However, Richardson ended it midway through overtime, beating Evgeni Nabokov from a bad angle.

 

New Jersey Devils – 1, Columbus Blue Jackets – 4

 

New Jersey Goalscorer: Michael Ryder

Columbus Goalscorers: Brandon Dubinsky, Cam Atkinson, James Wisniewski, and Marian Gaborik

Three Stars: 1 – Brandon Dubinsky, 2 – Sergei Bobrovsky, 3 – James Wisniewski

Led by Wisniewski’s three points, the Blue Jackets won consecutive games for the first time this season. Meanwhile, the Devils have lost eight out of nine games to start the season.

Edmonton Oilers – 4, Montreal Canadiens – 3

 

Edmonton Goalscorers: Ales Hemsky, Ladislav Smid, Jeff Petry, and Ryan Jones

Montreal Goalscorers: Tomas Plekanec, Brendan Gallagher, and Brian Gionta

Three Stars: 1 – Ladislav Smid, 2 – Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, 3 – Brendan Gallagher

In Montreal, the Oilers overcame an early two-goal deficit for a big road win. The Oilers got two assists from Nugent-Hopkins, Jordan Eberle, and Mark Arcobello, while Devan Dubnyk made 29 saves to help Edmonton snap a six-game losing streak.

Chicago Blackhawks – 3, Florida Panthers – 2 (SO)

 

Chicago Goalscorers: Jonathan Toews and Bryan Bickell

Florida Goalscorers: Tomas Fleischmann and Dmitry Kulikov

Three Stars: 1 – Jonathan Toews, 2 – Tomas Fleischmann, 3 – Dmitry Kulikov

Down 2-0 through 40 minutes of play, the Panthers tied the game and salvaged a point. However, Toews and Patrick Sharp scored in the shootout for the defending Stanley Cup champions, who have won five of their last six.

Nashville Predators – 0, Minnesota Wild – 2

 

Minnesota Goalscorers: Justin Fontaine and Jason Pominville

Three Stars: 1 – Josh Harding, 2 – Justin Fontaine, 3 – Pekka Rinne

Josh Harding stopped all 16 shots he faced to shut out the Predators. The win snaps a three-game losing skid for the Wild, who host the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday.

Calgary Flames – 2, Phoenix Coyotes – 4

 

Calgary Goalscorers: Lee Stempniak and Joe Colborne

Phoenix Goalscorers: Radim Vrbata, Mike Ribeiro (2), and Rob Klinkhammer

Three Stars: 1 – Mike Ribeiro, 2 – Radim Vrbata, 3 – Keith Yandle

Mike Ribeiro had his second straight two-goal game, his second goal breaking a 2-2 tie early in the third period. The Coyotes have won five of their last seven, and Ribeiro has a five-game point streak (5 G, 4 A).
