So last night I was chilling out listening to some Luke Bryan and working on an assignment when my phone lights up alerting me that Kyle Turris has scored a goal. Looking at this I decide to take a break and check twitter only to realize it has blown up with “OMG that was amazing”s and “Assist of the year there by Clarke MacArthur“s. I was like what happened and then I watched it and understood. If you haven’t seen it yet you are doing life wrong and I have it here:
For the record I always knew Mac was awesome. I often cited him as one of the most under-rated players when he was playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs last season. I was devastated when he was signed by the Leafs arch-nemesis the Ottawa Senators but I have come to terms with the fact that the Sens are his team now and I will just have to get used to it. He seems to be shining there and have great chemistry with Turris which is really good for him.
I still think Clarke is really under-rated and hope this assist brings him into the spotlight a bit because he deserves it. I still believe that the Leafs should of resigned him but I will let his skill say that for me. This isn’t his first pretty move this season he had a very pretty goal against the Philadelphia Flyers that actually made me cheer even though I was cheering for the other team.
Clarke is one of those players you can tell is humble and kind-hearted off the ice. After his amazing pass to Turris last night he said this about his line mate:
"“As good of a pass it was, it was a great play by him just to get there and get the shot off too.”"
That is a sign of incredible modesty and character. For those of you thinking well of course he is going to say that he doesn’t want to look like he has a massive ego, how do you know he’s such a great person, I know he is a good person because I had the pleasure of meeting him this summer at Minnesota Hockey Camps. He was extremely nice to me despite our embarrassing meeting and his kindness really stood out in the whirlwind that was my summer internship. I also think his character is well represented by these tweets from the owner of Minnesota Hockey Camps in reaction to the pass last night:
In conclusion Clarke MacArthur is just awesome and deserves a lot more recognition than he gets. What do you think? Will you be paying more attention to Clarke now? Have you always known Clarke was talented? Share your thoughts in the comment box below, on facebook, or on twitter.
