Boston Bruins Talk: What Went Wrong?
What is wrong with the Boston Bruins? The Boston Bruins are 3-4-3 in their last ten games having lost five in a row. With a game in hand the Florida Panthers can get within one point of the team from Beantown tonight. This is the team that was the force of the Eastern Conference until a year ago and now everything seems to be falling apart.

The Bruins got off to a rough start this season and it got worse when their captain and perennial all-star
defenceman
suffered a PCL tear and was on the shelf for nearly two months. Since that point a team that is used to playing for home ice advantage is now struggling for their playoff lives. Things are bad enough that last night on NBCSN
Darren
Dreger
said that both GM Peter
Chiarelli
and head coach Claude Julien are on the hot seat and that they may lose their jobs if this team does not reach the post season.
What is wrong with the Boston Bruins? They have a solid core, the problem is that it is a rapidly aging core. Not only are their cornerstones (Bergeron, Chara, Krejci, Lucic, etc.) either over thirty or close to it but it is a team that has played a lot of hockey over the last few seasons. The deep playoff runs over the last few seasons have started to age this team and the problem is exacerbated by the lack of younger players stepping up in the supporting cast but also the failure of management to add younger players to the core.

The beginning of the end for the 2014-2015 Bruins started in 2009 when
was traded away. The net result of this trade was the addition of
