Lightning Blueline Gets Some Help From Braydon Coburn

*Gudas has not played since early January after undergoing knee surgery. Lightning GM Steve Yzerman was looking to add some depth on the blueline, as Gudas was likely not going to be ready for the playoffs.

*The Bruins acquired forward Brett Connolly from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a pair of second round picks. Connolly has 12 goals and 3 assists in 49 games played.

Sharks trade forward Sheppard to Rangers

*Sheppard has 5 goals and 11 assists for the Sharks this season.

Red Wings Acquire Erik Cole From Stars

*Cole has 18 goals and 15 assists in 57 games played this season. Backman was the Red Wing’s fifth-round pick in the 2011 NHL Draft. Janmark was selected in the third round of the 2013 NHL Draft.

Jets Send Klingberg To Rangers For Stempniak

*The Winnipeg Jets added more depth at forward by acquiring Lee Stempniak. The Rangers gets Carl Klingberg in return, who has spent the majority of the season in the AHL.

Curtis Glencross Washington-Bound for 2nd and 3rd Round Picks

*Glencross has plenty of experience playing top line minutes and has shown good offensive instincts in the past. Glencross is also a solid two-way player who can help on the defensive side as well. He is a good leader and has always been considered a hard worker on the ice.

Antoine Vermette Traded To The Chicago Blackhawks

*Antoine Vermette is taking his thirteen goals and twenty two assists to the Chicago Blackhawks.  In return Arizona is getting a first round pick and prospect defenseman Klas Dahlbeck as reported by Bob McKenzie.

Washington Capitals Acquire Tim Gleason From Carolina Hurricanes

*The Carolina Hurricanes now have two fourth-round picks in this year’s draft. The one coming over from the Capitals in this trade actually belongs to the Arizona Coyotes, so it will be an early pick in the round.

February 27th:

Chicago Blackhawks Acquire Timonen From Flyers for Draft Picks

*The Chicago Blackhawks need defensive help and with some of the big names already being traded, the Blackhawks have turned to a very good offensive defenseman in Timonen.

February 26th:

Columbus Blue Jackets and Toronto Maple Leafs make a strangely odd yet good hockey trade.

* Toronto was desperate to dump Clarkson and his inflated salary. In return for taking on Clarkson the Blue Jackets sent Horton and his back injury to the Leafs. This is a salary dump for the Leafs, and for CBJ this gives them a player on the roster. He is unable to play do to a degenerative back injury meaning the Leafs may not have to pay him his entire contract.

February 25th:

Los Angeles Kings acquire sought-after defenseman Andrej Sekera from Carolina Hurricanes

*The Kings get a top-four defenseman to replace Slava Voynov. The Carolina Hurricanes get a conditional first rounder (likely 2015, since the Kings look to be making the playoffs). Roland McKeown was a Top 50 draft pick in last year’s draft.

Montreal Canadiens get a little tougher in deal with Ducks

February 15th:

Nashville Predators and Toronto Maple Leafs make a four player deal.

Toronto sends Cody Franson and Mike Santorelli to the Predators in exchange for Nashville’s first-round pick in 2015 and forwards Brendan Leipsic and Olli Jokinen, the club announced.

* This trade is not going to set the NHL on fire, but it does allow the Maple Leafs a little cap relief while adding depth to the Predators roster

February 11th: Buffalo Sabres and Dallas Stars Make Goalie Deal

Buffalo Sabres and Winnipeg Jets kicked things off with a blockbuster deal.

*The trade set the tone for what we hope will be very active NHL trade deadline. Buffalo is building for the future while Winnipeg is attempting to make a run.
