NHL Mock Draft: Post Draft Lottery

The draft lottery changed the perspective for some teams for what the upcoming draft will be about.  For some it is just anothe step in the rebuild but for others it became a moment of salvation.  Start to get ready for it with our most recent NHL Mock Draft:

This is the “easiest” first overall draft choice in years.  McDavid will take over the first line center duties in short order.  The only real question with this pick is can the Oilers build a quality team around him?. Center. Erie Otters. Conner McDavid. 1. player. 148

Center. Boston University. Jack Eichel. 2. player. 12. Aside from some poorly chosen <a href=

The defenseman with a left-handed shot will add to a budding defense core for the Coyotes.  Great player for a team that doesn’t plan on competing next year.. Defenseman. Boston College. Noah Hanifin. 3. player. 121

Quick scorer who is modeled after Patrick Kane.  Will develop his playmaking ability and will probably get some early palying time in Carolina. Center. London Knights. Mitchell Marner. 5. player. 109

85. An exceptional scoring threat.  Rantanen will fit well with any team but needs to improve his physical presense on the ice.  . Right Wing. TPS. Mikko Rantanen. 6. player

Seattle Thunderbirds. Matthew Barzal. 7. player. 68. Barzal shows potential to be a highend playmaking center in the NHL.  He needs to work a little on his scoring ability and strength.. Center

Sarnia Sting. Pavel Zacha. 9. player. 120. A physical scorer who is dangerous whenever he is on the ice.  Zacha can fit into the Sharks plans whether that is to go forward with the current roster or to start a rebuild.. Center

Left Wing. Kingston Frontenacs. Lawson Crouse. 10. player. 103. Crouse will make a name for himself as a power forward.  He is good at using his size to his advantage and would work well on lines with high skill players to create opportunities for them.

University of Michigan. Zach Werenski. 11. player. 87. A solid all around defeseman that will develop into the type of player that can play solid for a franchise night in and night out.. Defenseman

119. A player that is a very versitile forward.  He probably won’t play first line on the Stars but can work on the second or third lines and go for scores or shut down the opposition.. Right Wing. Halifax Mooseheads. Timo Meier. 12. player

Linkoping. Gabriel Carlsson. 13. player. 67. Solid transition defeseman who doesn’t get rattled.  He will help the Kings lock down a position that become one of concern this season. Defenseman

Defenseman. Saint John Sea Dogs. Jakub Zboril. 14. player. 70. Looked at by some as a great value pick who maybe one of the most surefire professionals in this draft.  Zbroil doesn’t have the fancy high side that some do but has many scouts convinced that he will be a great day in and day out defenseman.
