Jonathan Drouin Trade Rumors: Potential Destinations
Jonathan Drouin Trade Rumors: Reports Suggest He Could Be Dealt Soon
It’s difficult to guage which reports on Jonathan Drouin trade rumors carry the most credibility. TVA’s Renaud Lavoie reported on Thursday night that a Jonathan Drouin deal could go down within 24 hours. On Friday, Lavoie tweeted the following pair of tweets:
The suggestion of multiple players to be possibly included should help lend credibility to the report. There’s rarely young stars on entry-level contracts looking to be traded in a tight cap world. Finding something similar in return is difficult. Tampa Bay will have more trade options if they package Drouin with a Lightning player carrying extra salary.
Jonathan Drouin Trade Rumors: Potential Destinations/Trade Scenarios
Tampa Bay Trades F Alex Killorn and F Jonathan Drouin to Anaheim for D Cam Fowler and F Jiri Sekac
At some point, Anaheim is more than likely to move one of their young defenders. The Ducks are weak up front, especially on the left side, and Drouin fills that hole.

Tampa Bay Trades D Andrej Sustr and F Jonathan Drouin to Colorado for D Tyson Barrie and F Joey Hishon
For a team struggling on the back-end, giving up Tyson Barrie doesn’t make a lot of sense. But there’s a history with Jonathan Drouin and Nathan MacKinnon that links with Colorado coach Patrick Roy from their junior years.
Tampa Bay Trades F Brian Boyle and F Jonathan Drouin to Minnesota for D Matt Dumba and F Justin Fontaine
Teams would prefer D Jonas Brodin, but it’s more likely to be Matt Dumba or Jared Spurgeon being traded on the back-end. Simply put, Minnesota needs more offense.
Tampa Bay Trades F Alex Killorn and F Jonathan Drouin to Montreal for D Nathan Beaulieu and F David Desharnais
There’s always room for upgrades when you’re featuring Lars Eller as a top six forward. Asking them to give up Nathan Beaulieu is a tall-task, but these are the type of deals where you have to part ways with quality pieces. Montreal is likely one of the front-runners to land Drouin.

Tampa Bay Trades F Brian Boyle and F Jonathan Drouin to NY Islanders for F Ryan Strome and D Scott Mayfield
The Islanders lack top-line talent. It’s not to say that Drouin fills that need, but there’s certainly an opportunity for him to become that player. Tavares needs more options if New York wants to take that next step and make a run at a Stanley Cup.
Tampa Bay Trades D Slater Keokkoek and F Jonathan Drouin to Ottawa for F Nick Paul and D Cody Ceci
Ottawa is one impact forward away from being a competitive playoff contender in the Eastern Conference. They’d prefer to move Jared Cowen, but they’d need to cough up a better defender for Drouin.
Tampa Bay Trades F Brian Boyle and F Jonathan Drouin to St.Louis for F Patrik Berglund and D Petteri Lindbohm
Jonathan Drouin trade rumors are largely linking him to St.Louis, but it’s difficult to find a deal that works. Giving up Robby Fabbri or Ivan Barbashev is something Blues fans may have to come to terms with to make this work. If Berglund would waive his no-trade, and GM Steve Yzerman actually had interest, a deal would look similar to the above.
Tampa Bay Trades D Nikita Nesterov and F Jonathan Drouin, and draft pick (1st or 2nd?) to Toronto for F James van Riemsdyk and D Roman Polak
If Steve Yzerman thought he could sign Roman Polak to a new contract, a deal would look like this. If not, another Maple Leafs defensive prospect along with JVR might get a deal done.

Tampa Bay Trades D Andrej Sustr and F Jonathan Drouin to Winnipeg for D Jacob Trouba and F Chase De Leo
With recent news that next year’s salary cap may not change, Winnipeg’s free agent situation is becoming much more frantic. The Jets can’t sign Dustin Byfuglien, Andrew Ladd, and Jacob Trouba without taking casualties. Byfuglien is a one of a kind player, while Ladd is the team’s leader. Signing those two makes the most sense, even though some describe Trouba as the future on the blueline. Tough decisions looming with one of three stud players likely on their way out.
