Too Many Men will feature the “2016 NHL Trade Deadline Tracker” on Monday, February 29th 2016.

NHL Trade Deadline is to fans what Christmas morning is to children all around the world. By this time of year, the playoff-picture has begun to paint itself as teams declare themselves buyers, or sellers heading into February 29th.

For many teams, it’s the last opportunity to make additions for the stretch-run, and last chance to assemble that Stanley Cup winning roster. At the same time, the basement dwellers of the league are selling on expiring contracts in hopes of adding prospects and/or draft picks.

It’s perhaps the most popular event of the NHL season for fans – trades are an exciting part of hockey. The same cannot be said for the players involved. It can be a stressful time of year for those players whose future is uncertain with their respective club. There’s a lot of guys starting new lives in a brand new city.

In recent years, we’ve seen most of the bigger deals taking place in the days leading up to the NHL Trade Deadline. The total number of trades has gone down in recent years – but we’re still talking roughly 30-40 bodies joining new organizations on average.
