Rielly a No.1 Defenseman?
Live Feed class=inline-text id=inline-text-10Union and Blue
The team over at Editor in Leaf held a group roundtable to discuss whether or not Morgan Rielly is truly a number one defenseman. Most answers are what you’d expect, although a couple may surprise you. [Editor in Leaf]
Bogosian Out a Week or Two
Buffalo Sabres defenseman Zach Bogosian will miss the next one to two weeks with an MCL sprain in his knee. This is a tough blow for a team that was just starting to get it going without the likes of Jack Eichel and Evander Kane. [NHL.com]
Hudon Deserves Call-Up
Kenny McMillan over at A Winning Habit discusses how Habs prospect Charles Hudon deserves a call-up. We tend to agree since he’s a player that might be wise to protect in expansion – but they might want a better look at him before committing like that. [A Winning Habit]
Winter Classic Jersey’s Leaked
Someone down at the NHL shop is in hot water after accidentally giving fans a sneak peek at the St. Louis Blues uniforms for the World Classic. They were on the site briefly, in which many folks managed to grab screenshots before disappearing shortly thereafter. [Yahoo Sports]
Chychrun Sticking Around
Another surprise rookie appears to be sticking around in 2016. The consensus top three pick in 2016 fell hard on draft boards because of scouts and now Jakob Chychrun is proving why everyone made a mistake. Heck, even Team Canada passed on him for the World Juniors while the likes of Olli Juolevi led the way for Team Finland. [Howlin’ Hockey]

NHL Daily Morning Rant
It’s difficult to criticize a team that is virtually perfect on the young season, but that’s exactly what I’m going to do. I’ve got a bone to pick with the Montreal Canadiens.
Let’s call a spade, a spade. If it weren’t for Habs goaltending, this team wouldn’t be where they are. How many times have we said that in past years? Surprisingly though, Montreal actually has a plethora of young talent in their system. But for some reason, they insist on keeping the likes of David Desharnais, Paul Byron, Torrey Mitchell, etc. in the mix and neglect top prospects such as Charles Hudon, Mike McCarron, and Jacob de La Rose. These are the guys that will help take this team to the next level. The further you can demote the likes of Andrew Shaw and Tomas Plekanec (ideally into a 3rd line setting), the more they can spread out the scoring.
