NHL Daily Fantasy Sports: DFS Picks/Lineup of the Day – 8 games are scheduled for Thursday night: the Habs head to Philadelphia, Edmonton travels to Nashville, St. Louis plays host to Toronto, Chicago will face-off against Arizona, and more!

NHL daily fantasy sports (DFS) continues to grow in popularity despite the uncertainty surrounding the industry. Companies like Fan Duel and Draft Kings are still immersed in legal battles and in turn are unable to offer their services in certain American states.

Even with restrictions, the DFS community continues to thrive and in likelihood will emerge victorious when all is said and done. Just think of the way fantasy sports, in general, has evolved over the last 15-20 years. Daily fantasy sports is just the next step. Instead of drafting a team, spending an entire season tweaking and adjusting your lineup, you can select a roster of players for that given night and compete against other individuals.

NHL Schedule: Thursday, February 2nd

Montreal Canadiens at Philadelphia Flyers (7pm et)
New York Rangers at Buffalo Sabres (7:30pm et)
Ottawa Senators at Tampa Bay Lightning (7:30pm et)
Edmonton Oilers at Nashville Predators (8pm et)
Winnipeg Jets at Dallas Stars (8:30pm et)
Toronto Maple Leafs at St. Louis Blues (9pm et)
Chicago Blackhawks at Arizona Coyotes (9pm et)
San Jose Sharks at Vancouver Canucks (10pm et)

NHL DFS Picks of the Day (Feb.2)

*using Draft Kings for prices and fantasy points

Top Pick: C Jason Spezza, DAL $5,200 (vs. WPG)

The Stars are coming off a big win versus Toronto and Jason Spezza managed to snap a 14-game goal drought in the process. He has one goal, three assists in his last four games and is currently riding a three-game point streak versus a Jets team that has a tendency to allow a ton of goals. It’s also worth noting that Winnipeg gives up a lot of power plays, and even though Dallas is operating at just 17.7 percent, Spezza mans the point on the first unit.

Value Pick: C Calle Jarnkrok, NSH $3,500 (vs. EDM)

Overall, it’s been a disappointing season for the Swede who was expected to take the next step in terms of production. He only has 16 points on the season, but he might be turning a corner now with three goals, three assists in his last 10 contests. In fact, he’s riding a three-game point streak (two goals, two assists).

Top Pick: W Alex Radulov, MTL $5,700 (at PHI)

More from Puck Prose

The Russian winger continues to silence his doubters. Radulov has two goals, six assists in his last 10 games and two goals, five assists in his last 5 contests. Montreal heads to Philly at a time while Steve Mason is struggling (if he even draws the start), but it shouldn’t stop the Habs from scoring a few goals even if Neuvirth mans the crease. Alex Radulov has a goal and three assists in two games versus Philly this year.

Value Pick: W Brayden Point, TB $3,400 (vs. OTT)

Brayden Point’s DFS value took a massive hit after he got banged up with an upper-body injury. His early impressive play saw his value peak to around $4,400 at one point in January. He has since returned following the All-Star break and had a goal in his first game back.

Top Pick: D Erik Karlsson, OTT $7,000 (at TB)

Following a nasty slump, Karlsson saw his DFS value dip below $7,000 for the first time all season. He is since looking to turn things around riding a two-game point streak, thus is value is beginning to increase again. It’s a lot of salary to invest on a defenseman, but it feels like the Swede is ready to start contributing as he attempts to match his 2015-16 point-per-game pace.

Next: Canucks Should Be Sellers at the Deadline

Value Pick: D Troy Stecher, VAN $3,500 (vs. SJ)

The Canucks leading point producer on the back end is a surprising rookie that continues to impress. Stecher only has 14 points in 41 games, but he’s arguably Vancouver’s top source of offense on the blue line right now. Beating Martin Jones (if he starts) and the Sharks is no easy task, but I’ve got a feeling the Canucks squeeze out a low-scoring victory. If any of those goals come on the PP, Troy definitely has a shot at getting on the scoresheet since he spends time with the first unit.
