NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Letting You Know Which Players You Should Add/Drop Heading Into Week 17, Complete Injury Update, Players of the Week, and More!

Welcome back to our weekly NHL fantasy hockey waiver wire. There are some new players to add to your pool for all three formats, there is also some new injuries listed, as well as players on cold streaks. We’ve also included three new players of the week, so everything you need to know is right here.

Like always, we’re here to help you gain the most out of your hockey pool. Most NHL fantasy pools consist of a weekly total before being reset. So, it’s best to maximize your scoring during that week to either stay in the lead or try to climb the standings. The toughest part is always releasing players, but if you’re in a pool that isn’t very active, you can take those chances.

If you’re in a pool that everyone is involved in daily, at least keep your star players even if they’re going through a cold streak, so they’re not picked up when you release them.

Top Forward of the Week: Patrice Bergeron (BOS) – (2GP, 2G, 5A, 7PTS)

More from Puck Prose

What a week Patrice Bergeron had, seven points in two games is just absolutely outstanding. If you have Patrice in your pool, good for you, he’s still a mid 60’s guy though so don’t expect an outlandish output this year or next. But what he will do is stay in that point range while having the best plus/minus rating in the NHL.

Top Defenseman of the Week: Kris Letang (PIT) – (4GP, 1G, 3A, 4PTS)

Kris Letang has had quite the up and down season, but four points in four games is still pretty solid. He’s still a top-tier defenseman capable of putting up a tremendous amount of points. He’s eventually going to break out and be in the top five every season but no one knows when that will be which makes him a constant question in a keeper pool, he’ll either put up a 70 point season or a 40 point season, so it’s best to have another scoring defenseman on your team just in case.

Next: Vegas Golden Knights Mock Expansion Draft Roundtable

Top Goalie of the Week: Braden Holtby (WSH) – (3GP, 3W, .919SV%, 1.67GAA, 1SO)

Braden Holtby is an elite goalie in the NHL, behind, or even tied with Carey Price. This means he’s likely to go in the first round every year of your pool if not the early second. So if you were able to draft him last October good on you because he’s nearly impossible to acquire. And if you’re not in a keeper league, take him in the first round next year since Washington will only be getting better.
