2017 NHL Free Agency Tracker: Every Signing for Each Team

Tracking every signing in 2017 NHL free agency, complete with rumors, trades and more as well.

Officially, the 2017 NHL free agency period began on July 1 at precisely 12 noon ET. Of course, things started happening well before that time. Teams have been discussing opportunities with players since the NHL Draft. The Vegas Golden Knights have been doing so since before their expansion draft.

Everyone knows the action didn’t wait until July 1 to start. The day of the first round of the 2017 NHL Draft, the Chicago Blackhawks shipped Artemi Panarin to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Brandon Saad. Also, the Arizona Coyotes pulled off trades for Niklas Hjalmarsson, Derek Stepan and Antti Raanta. Later that evening, the Washington Capitals did the expected by re-signing T.J. Oshie to an eight-year deal.

It was arguably the most action packed day as far as trades (excluding trade deadline day) since June 29, 2016. During that day, Shea Weber, P.K. Subban, Adam Larsson and Taylor Hall all got traded. And Steven Stamkos re-signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning. All in under an hour.
