The Winnipeg Jets have a very young NHL team with a lot of talent. But they have a ton of prospects ready to come up and join them. Who’s the best in their pipeline?
The Winnipeg Jets have an NHL team where only three players are over 30. Many of their players remain young, and they look to have a better squad than last year with many of the same pieces. While this may make it a little hard for good prospects to come up and join the NHL squad, the Jets have plenty of prospects to promote to the majors.
Winnipeg’s prospect pool is led by an impressive group of forwards. They’ve drafted quite well over the years and it’s starting to pay off. However, that isn’t to say the Jets don’t have a strong blue line in their prospect pool. Winnipeg has several potential NHL starters amongst their defensemen prospect.

A majority of their prospects have come from North America, but the Jets have also been bold in adding some European talent. Looking at their pipeline, Winnipeg can do a lot of things with their current core of prospects. Should they choose to rebuild from within, they have the pieces necessary to do it. At the same time, the Jets could elect to acquire some talent via a trade. And Winnipeg’s prospects are definitely tempting enough to warrant a big return.
Maybe the Jets’ depth in the NHL will help their prospects, as they certainly won’t be rushed. Winnipeg has a few prospects who should see time on the big stage next season. With a budding pipeline, the Jets aren’t too far away from contending. The lone hole in their prospect system is a lack of quality goaltenders. But then again, you don’t need elite goalie prospects to have a deep farm system.
With development camp set to get started this month, who are the Winnipeg Jets prospects to look out for? Who has a chance to make this roster in the coming years?
