The Vancouver Canucks seem like the best candidate to land Alex Kerfoot, a great forward prospect with strong leadership qualities
The Vancouver Canucks are a team looking for an identity, but they are well on their way. They are slowly approaching the end of the Daniel and Henrik Sedin era, and are looking for fresh faces. The Canucks have a slew of strong prospects to help their franchise grow, and Alex Kerfoot could be the newest addition.
According to multiple reports, including NHL.com, the Canucks and Kerfoot had a “productive and informative meeting”.
Agent J.P Barry says Alex Kerfoot had a very productive and informative meeting with Linden, Benning and Green. #Canucks

The New Jersey Devils drafted Kerfoot 150th overall in the fifth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Joining fellow high-profile NCAA prospect Will Butcher, Kerfoot is looking to land a new deal with a new team.
Replacing Jimmy Vesey as the Harvard University captain, Kerfoot finished first in team scoring with 45 points in 36 games. He was a top 10 Hobey Baker Award finalist and made major leaps as a senior.
Looking ahead, it seems unlikely Kerfoot resigns in New Jersey. The best bets seem to be the Canucks, or joining his buddy Vesey with the New York Rangers. However, he played his minor league hockey in the BCHL, and grew up a Canucks fan all his life. The Canucks seem ready to pull the trigger, and there are more than a few reasons why this could be a great fit.
Kerfoot Adds Playmaking to Youthful Canucks
Sven Baertschi could squeeze into the wing spot alongside the Sedins with a good training camp and preseason. On the second line, Bo Horvat could be a great fit with Kerfoot. The young center was the only player to reach 20 goals last season, and Kerfoot lead the Harvard Crimson with 29 assists.
This could be a match made in heaven If Kerfoot signs with the Canucks. Kerfoot and Horvat could generate some early chemistry, but their shared leadership qualities create more hope from a long-term perspective. Loui Eriksson is looking for a boune back season, and playing with the Sedins, or the youngsters, could help him find his game. If one of the younger players still that first line spot, Kerfoot and Eriksson could be another potential tandem for the Canucks to play with.

The Canucks are desperate, and have plenty of money to spend. Kerfoot is not staying with Devils, and loves the idea of playing in Vancouver. He is a potential leader, and can help create scoring chances for a team that struggles. They are in much need of depth, and signing Kerfoot creates a healthy battle in training camp. The Canucks will do everything they can to sign Kerfoot, and there is a good chance the NCAA prospects takes a bite.
