3. Back to Back Scoring Titles

The Sedins are the only brothers to both win the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL’s leading scorer. And they did it in consecutive seasons (2009-10 and 2010-11). Henrik won it in 2009-10 and also won the Hart Trophy, along with the Lester Pearson (now known as the Ted Lindsay Award). While two pairs of siblings led the NHL in points before them, both were accomplished before the Art Ross was created.

Daniel nearly won the Hart Trophy the following season but lost by 73 votes to Corey Perry in one of the more interesting MVP races in recent history. However, he still won the Art Ross and the Lester Pearson.

This shows how dominant both brothers were in their prime. They were borderline unstoppable. The Sedins had elite level skill and they used it with their chemistry to become a nightmare to matchup against.

In hindsight, Daniel probably should have won the Hart Trophy. He was on the league’s best team and was their best player. Perry scored 50 goals though, which is probably what led to him winning the MVP. However, Daniel still had 41 goals and five more points than the eventual winner. Plus, he had a much better plus-minus rating (+30 to +9).

See? Even back in 2010-11, Hart Trophy voting was still a hot-button issue! The Sedins nearly became the first brothers to each win the NHL’s MVP award. But hey, scoring titles are pretty impressive too.
