The Nashville Predators hope to repeat their excellent Game 1 in Game 2 when they square off against the Colorado Avalanche
Game 1 of the first-round series between the Nashville Predators and Colorado Avalanche saw the President’s Trophy winners get in an early hole. They fell behind 1-0 in the first period and 2-1 in the second period. However, the Preds proceeded to score the next four goals, topping the Avs 5-2. Game 2 will be held on Saturday starting at 3:00 p.m. ET at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
The Preds got two goals from star forward Filip Forsberg, who scored twice in under five minutes in the third period. His first of those two goals wound up being the game-winner. Austin Watson, who put up nine points in 22 postseason games last year, continued his playoff success with two points, including the first Preds goal.

Meanwhile, star center Ryan Johansen picked up two assists to continue his success in the postseason. Goaltender Pekka Rinne stopped 25 of the 27 shots he saw. He’ll hope to have a similar performance in Game 2.
On the other side of the ice, the Avs didn’t convert on their chances in Game 1. Colorado had three power-play chances, but couldn’t score on any of them. They have a great power-play, so they’ll have to convert on their chances that the Predators (one of the most penalized teams in the NHL) will inevitably give them.
Jonathan Bernier had an alright night in goal during Game 1. He stopped 26 of the 30 shots he faced. The Avs will need him to stop more pucks in Game 2, but that’s a lot easier said than done against a team as lethal as the Preds.
