NHL Trade Rumors: Carolina Hurricanes will consider offers for anyone
According to the latest NHL trade rumors, the Carolina Hurricanes will listen to offers for just about anyone
The Carolina Hurricanes have gone nine seasons without making the Stanley Cup Playoffs. That’s the longest postseason drought of any NHL team. New owner Thomas Dundon has promised changes. They’ve already found a new general manager (Don Waddell) and a new head coach (Rod Brind’amour). The latest NHL trade rumors suggest the Hurricanes aren’t done yet.
According to Bob McKenzie, Carolina is likely going to have roster turnover. In fact, they’ll reportedly listen to offers for any player except for Sebastian Aho.
"“Everybody else – everybody else – is available. [Jeff Skinner], you name it… Skinner is getting moved, I would think… Everybody except for Aho is available. I think [Justin Faulk] is very much in play, I think Skinner is very much in play.”"

Obviously, there will be some players the Hurricanes will need to be blown away to trade. Jaccob Slavin, Brett Pesce, and Teuvo Teravainen immediately come to mind. Someone like Noah Hanifin could make sense, but one would think Carolina would have to get a significant forward, such as William Nylander, to trade him.
The most likely candidates to be traded are Victor Rask, Skinner, and Faulk. Carolina would probably like to be done with Rask’s contract. He has a $4 million cap hit over the next three seasons. Rask has $12 million of salary remaining on his deal and doesn’t have trade protection. His 31 points in 2017-18 are the lowest of his career. Rask signed his deal after setting a career-high with 21 goals and 48 points during the 2015-16 season. He has yet to match those numbers since then.
Skinner has a no-movement clause and has one-year remaining on his deal. He has a $5.75 million cap hit but is owed $6 million in salary. Skinner could get the Hurricanes a nice haul if his no-movement clause doesn’t keep his price from rising (which has happened with previous players).

Meanwhile, Faulk has the longer-term deal of the bunch. He has a $4.83 million cap hit over the next two seasons. However, Faulk is due $12 million in salary over the next two years. His 31 points in 2017-18 are his lowest total since the 2012-13 season. Faulk is a three-time All-Star (2015, 2016, 2017).
