The Vegas Golden Knights continue to create history as they take a 1-0 series into Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Washington Capitals

The Vegas Golden Knights are one of the best stories in sports. While the NBA is seeing a repeat final between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors, the NHL is hosting a rare matchup for the Stanley Cup final. The Washington Capitals have yet to win a Stanley Cup, while the Golden Knights made it to the finals in their inaugural season.

Game 1 was spectacular. Going shot for shot, the Golden Knights and Capitals poured it on all game long. While the game ended 6 -4 for the Golden Knights, the Capitals came very close to tying the game late in the third period.

The Golden Knights continue to do everything right. They shut down Alex Ovechkin and were able to continue their transition game in style. The rest did not affect their play, and they came away with a huge Game 1 win in the process.

Now onto Game 2.

Home-Ice…Advantage?

The Golden Knights are still human. They may not have glaring holes, but the young, superstar-less team have thrived on a team-based game plan. However, there are reasons to believe that the big-name Capitals could surprise in Game 2.

The Golden Knights have lost just 3 games in the playoffs, but two of them were on home ice. The Capitals would need to have a similar approach to the game to as the San Jose Sharks. After losing Game 1 7-0, the Sharks were able to grind out a Game 2 victory in double overtime.

The Capitals have shown success on the road as well. Their consecutive losses in the first and third rounds of the playoffs were all at home, and they have been able to pull off big wins as the visiting team. After losing two at home to the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Capitals went on to win the series 4-2. Against the Pittsburgh Penguins, they won two of three games on the road. In the Eastern Conference finals, the Capitals rallied back after two-straight home losses to win the series in seven games.

The Capitals will be hungry, have done well on the road, and have not lost in Game 2 since Round 1 of the NHL playoffs. While Marc-Andre Fleury continues to shut the door on everyone, the Capitals have the firepower steal the win.

Looking at odds provided by oddshark.com, the Capitals opened at +108 and have seen a consistent rise in juice heading into Game 2. If you are a believer in the Capitals, Game 2 might be the best chance for them to turn things around. Heading home at 2-0 against the Golden Knights will not be an option, and the Capitals will do everything possible to prove their worth.

Game 2 Prediction: Capitals 4 – Golden Knights 3 in OT
