With a mix of rising young stars and popular veteran players in the Detroit Red Wings’ organization, which jersey will be the hot seller this coming season?

The Detroit Red Wings have been active this offseason. They’ve been signing free agents, extending contracts, and drafting highly anticipated young talent. With all of these moves, Red Wings fans have to be excited for the coming 2018-19 season to see how the team has evolved from the disappointing 2017-18 season.

The 2018-19 season also embarks the second season the NHL has sported the new Adidas jerseys. With the culmination of new jerseys and an evolving team, there is no doubt that jersey sales will be high for the Red Wings. It will be interesting to see who has the most popular player jersey. Let’s look at the top candidates.

Anthony Mantha makes a strong case for being one of the most popular as far as jersey sales after signing a two-year extension with the Wings this offseason. He is a young forward who has been increasing in points every season since his rookie season (2015-16).  At 23 years of age, it is safe to say that Mantha will be with the Wings for the long haul. Buying his jersey seems like a good investment.

After coming off of a career-high season in points, Dylan Larkin is a fan favorite and a solid jersey choice. He hails from Waterford, Michigan and attended the University of Michigan, so Red Wings fans have a hometown guy that they could represent with a jersey.

Not only is this 22 year old from Michigan, but he is a truly great player. Larkin has already been to an NHL All-Star Game Skills Competition and has proven to be one of the fastest players in the game.  However, currently, Larkin has not been locked up long-term by the Wings. But that will likely change in the coming weeks as contract negotiations are progressing.

Much like  Larkin, Justin Abdelkader is from Michigan, went to college at a Michigan school, and plays a ton of minutes for the Red Wings. Abdelkader has been with the Wings since 2008 and won a Stanley Cup with the Red Wings that same season.

With all of his successes thus far, he has solidified himself as a truly solid player.  ‘Abby’ is with the Red Wings for the next five seasons and serves as an assistant captain which makes getting his jersey a good selection.

If Henrik Zetterberg chooses to come back for one more season, getting his jersey would be a good move. He is a slam dunk Hockey Hall of Famer and one of the greatest Detroit Red Wings of all-time.

In his career so far, Zetterberg has won a Stanley Cup (2007-08), Conn Smythe Trophy (2007-08), King Clancy Memorial Trophy (2014-15), NHL Foundation Award Winner (2012-13), and served as the team captain. He also holds multiple Red Wing franchise records.  Since joining the Wings in the 2002-03 season, Zetterberg has been adored by hockey fans everywhere.

These players are some of the many current Wings players that fans should get jerseys of for the upcoming 2018-19 season.  It will be interesting to see which player jersey is the most popular one worn by Wings fans.
