Boston Bruins rumors: Trade rumors heating up as scoring woes continue
The Boston Bruins are being aggressive in the trade market after some early scoring woes.
Last season, the Boston Bruins proved to be quite aggressive in the trade market, acquiring Nick Holden and Rick Nash at the 2018 NHL trade deadline. This year will apparently be no different. And, with the Bruins struggling to score (two shutout losses in their last three games), the Bruins could get active earlier than they did last season.
During a recent interview, team president Cam Neely implied he won’t wait for his team to solve their scoring woes.
“But we recognize we don’t want to sit around, wait too long, for something that may or may not happen.”

The Bruins, as expected, have gotten a lot out of their top forward line. David Pastrnak, Patrice Bergeron, and Brad Marchand have combined for 22 goals and 46 points through 13 games. However, this trio represents their only three players who have more than 10 points.
Second line center David Krejci has been solid, picking up nine points in 13 games. However, he hasn’t gotten much help. After strong rookie seasons, both Jake DeBrusk and Danton Heinen are struggling mightily, combining for just three goals and six points.
Fellow sophomore forwards Anders Bjork and Ryan Donato have combined for merely three points. The latter was expected to be a huge addition to their offense after joining the team late last season. However, Donato has since been sent down to the AHL.
The Bruins have scored 37 goals in 13 games in 2018-19, which ranks 23rd out of the 31 teams. They’ve gotten well over half of their goals from Marchand, Bergeron, and Pastrnak. That’s not a good sign, especially considering they’ll be going up against deep teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Luckily, the Bruins have been great defensively. Their 31 goals against rank second in the NHL. Free agent signee Jaroslav Halak has been brilliant in black and gold, posting a .952 save percentage through his first eight appearances.
