Arguably the best enforcer in NHL history, Detroit Red Wings legend Bob Probert will get his own documentary called ‘Tough Guy’ which will air in Canada on December 14th and the United States in 2019.

When people think of former Detroit Red Wings enforcer Bob Probert, they probably associate him with having 246 NHL fights in 16 seasons and being fifth all-time in penalty minutes acquired. What people do not know is what went on beyond the rink, such as his addiction to cocaine, his arrests and being an alcoholic.

Although these factors impacted Probert’s life, it does not overshadow his greatness on the ice.  In the documentary focusing on him titled Tough Guy focuses on Probert’s life all the way from his childhood to his death at the age of 45 years old.

The film is set to be released on Canada’s Superchannel on December 14th and in the United States in 2019. Tough Guy features appearances and interviews from his wife Dani Probert, Steve Yzerman, Joey Kocur, Tie Domi, Don Cherry, Chris Chelios, Jeremy Roenick, Stu Grimson, Mr. T, Marty McSorley, Tony Twist, Sheldon Kennedy, Troy Crowder, and more.

Probert had an impressive NHL career where he spent 16 seasons playing with the Detroit Red Wings (9 seasons) and the Chicago Blackhawks (7 seasons). He played 935 NHL games, scored 163 goals, tallied 221 assists, registered 3,300 penalty minutes and served as an assistant captain for both the Red Wings and Blackhawks.

Probert set the standard for what it means to be an all-around hockey player. At 6’3” and 230 pounds, he was able to play a physical role as well as contribute offensively at an All-Star caliber rate.

What impresses people the most about Probert was his abilities to be an incredible teammate. With the Red Wings having tremendous amounts of talent such as Steve Yzerman, he took it upon himself to serve as a protector and leader for the Wings.

It is about time Probert gets a documentary made about him and his life both on and off the ice. The style he played came with many side effects that affected his personal life and Tough Guy is sure to cover every bit of Probert’s life.
