Washington Capitals: Alex Ovechkin is not done yet
Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin is not going away anytime soon
Alex Ovechkin is 33 years old. While some of the youngsters will tell you that he’s old and past his prime, they’re wrong. Against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, Ovechkin picked up his 29th goal of the season and extended his point streak to 14 games. The Washington Capitals are once again red hot, racking up five straight wins with their 4-3 victory over the Sabres.
Ovechkin has seven goals in his last three games, good enough to get the NHL First Star of the Week. The Capitals captain achieved yet another hat trick against the Carolina Hurricanes and scored the game-winning goal against Buffalo in just 24 hours.

This man is in the zone right now. As a fan of the NHL, you have to just suspend all disbelief and be in sheer awe as to what he brings every night. Ovechkin is defying everything known about players declining.
The Heroics
Ovechkin is in the zone. As of Tuesday, Dec. 19, he has 29 goals in 32 games. This includes tapping into the clutch gene in the fourth round of a shootout in overtime. The Washington Post quoted Ovechkin saying ” I have pretty good chances, but today it was not my day.”
Ovechkin added,” You can’t score every night.” Except, well, he did score that night. Humble statements from a man who delivers when it counts on the ice. Ovechkin came up short for the third straight hat trick game, but he did get the slap shot to tie the game when the team was down.
He is not done yet
Let’s be honest, the season has not always been the most convincing in regards to winning and a solid direction for the Capitals. The penalty kills have been often suspect and the special teams have been weak.
However, Ovechkin has been one of the most exciting aspects to the league and the team for over a decade now. Washington is able to grow winning streaks and find chemistry again because of his contributions to the team. The bottom line is Ovechkin is not done yet. This man is a goal machine and the score sheet shows that the Hall of Fame is waiting with open arms.
