According to the latest NHL trade rumors, the New York Rangers are starting to get a lot of interest in forward Chris Kreider.
As the NHL trade deadline draws near, teams are starting to get aggressive on both sides of the market. The Ottawa Senators lack of clarity regarding Mark Stone has led to teams calling another team looking to sell off players – the New York Rangers. According to the latest NHL trade rumors, the player who’s getting the most interest as of late is forward Chris Kreider.
This report comes from the New York Post. It is also confirmed by The Fourth Period. Kreider, unlike fellow trade candidates Kevin Hayes and Mats Zuccarello, would be more than a rental, as he has one year left on his deal after this one. The Rangers forward has a cap hit of $4.5 million.

Kreider is having a terrific year for the Rangers, so it’s not surprising teams are interested. If the blue shirts are wise, they’ll listen to offers. Kreider’s having a terrific year with 44 points in 57 games with extremely impressive possession numbers to boot. He’s been a huge part of their top forward line, which has been on fire as of late.
It would likely cost a lot to get him. The Rangers would likely point to what they got for captain Ryan McDonagh last season – a first-round pick, a conditional pick of some kind, and a prospect. They threw J.T. Miller in the trade as well, which helped them get Vladislav Namestnikov and an additional prospect.
Teams reported to be interested in Kreider include the Toronto Maple Leafs and Nashville Predators. With the Senators decision regarding Stone unclear, the Rangers could benefit, as Kreider would likely be the best wing on the market other than Artemi Panarin if Stone’s not getting traded.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Boston Bruins get involved in discussions as well. Though they recently acquired Charlie Coyle from the Minnesota Wild, they still have most of their best trade assets. Those assets are things the Rangers would like – a 2019 first rounder is among them.
If the Rangers don’t like the offers they’re getting, they can always just hang onto him and wait until the summer to revisit trade talks with Kreider. But right now would be the best time for them to trade him. And the best time to acquire him.
