Columbus Blue Jackets: Sergei Bobrovsky is heating up at the right time
Ever since February, Sergei Bobrovsky has been unbelievable and is bringing hope into the Columbus Blue Jackets locker room.
Ever since the Columbus Blue Jackets and their general manager Jarmo Kekalainen blew the hockey world away with his blockbuster trades, they have been fighting for their playoff lives. Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, who has not had the best season, has stepped up at just the right time and has been pure gold for this team.
Since February, Bobrovsky has recorded seven shutouts, has a 17-7-0 record, and owns a .933 save percentage. He leads the league with nine shutouts and has three in his last five games.

The team in front of him has been playing structurally sound. They always have a player behind for support, which has limited the amounts of odd-man rushes and grade-A chances.
Even in the game on Sunday night against the Buffalo Sabres, when Bobrovsky stopped 38 of 38 shots, not many of those 38 shots were high-danger chances.
He’s been dialed in and has been in solid positions to catch the puck square on the logo, rather than scrambling around the way he did earlier in the season.
Plus, having goals aplenty in front of you helps too. In the Blue Jackets last five games, they have scored at least four goals in each game. This helps Bobrovsky, as it gives him a little more wiggle room for error (not that he even needs it right now).
Before the Blue Jackets had problems scoring consistently, often winning games a by a single goal, but now they have been scoring at will and are finding more chemistry as a team.
Bobrovsky keeps the Blue Jackets in games until their offence kicks in and it’s been the winning formula for the team as they are currently on a 5-game winning streak.
Columbus is currently two points ahead of the Montreal Canadiens and holds the first wild-card spot. The key to maintaining their position is to have Bobrovsky continue to dominate and if they can pull it off, Kekalainen can heave a huge sigh of relief.
