Washington is no stranger to the postseason, as this is their fifth straight appearance in the playoffs. As the reigning Stanley Cup champs, they’re looking to win back-to-back titles. The Caps are led by team captain Alex Ovechkin, goaltender Braden Holtby, centers Nicklas Backstrom and Evgeny Kuznetsov, and defenseman John Carlson.

They’re coached by Todd Reirden, who took over for Barry Trotz when he departed for the New York Islanders. He has the team playing extremely well since the trade deadline.

On the other side of the ice, the Hurricanes are making their first postseason appearance in a decade. They’ve been one of the hottest teams in the NHL, as they’ve been quite dominant in 2019.

The Canes are led by captain Justin Williams, budding superstar Sebastian Aho, rookie sensation Andrei Svechnikov, and defenseman Jaccob Slavin. They’re also led by new head coach Rod Brind’Amour, who should get quite a few Jack Adams Trophy votes.
