The wild first round of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs has claimed another victim, as the St. Louis Blues have upset the Winnipeg Jets. Here are the best reactions from Twitter.
The St. Louis Blues entered the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs as darkhorse Stanley Cup contenders. They have overcome a tough Winnipeg Jets team, upsetting them in six games. The third-seeded Blues will now move on to face the winner of the Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars series in the second round.
It’s been an incredible year for the Blues. They entered 2019 among the worst teams in the NHL. However, the Blues turned their season around thanks to some help from rookie goaltender Jordan Binnington. Since the start of 2019, they have one of the best records in the league.

The Blues finished off the Jets with an impressive win at home. It was a rare win at home, as it’s the first time this series the home team has won. The Blues won all three of the games in Winnipeg while the Jets won two of the three games in St. Louis.
They showed impressive resilience by winning all three of their games in Winnipeg, which is one of the loudest arenas in the NHL. The Jets were too skilled to go away quietly, but the Blues kept on fighting back, even after losing two straight games in St. Louis.
The Blues were led by some surprising contributors. David Perron and Oskar Sundqvist both provided clutch scoring. So did Ryan O’Reilly and Vladimir Tarasenko. Alex Pietrangelo was an assist machine. And of course, Binnington was great. Meanwhile, his Jets counterpart Connor Hellebuyck had quite a few moments to forget.
In Game 6, Jaden Schwartz got the scoring off early by scoring less than 30 seconds into the game. That was certainly one Hellebuyck would like to have back. Schwartz later got two more goals to have a playoff hat trick.
louWinnipeg, who came into this season expecting to be Stanley Cup contenders, certainly didn’t look like contenders against the Blues. Even though Patrik Laine had an incredible series, the rest of the team simply didn’t do enough.
Naturally, Twitter had a lot to say about this upset. Even though, in theory, it really wasn’t much of one once you look past the seeds. Many expected the Blues to pull off the upset. But anyway, reactions came from all over hockey twitter, from analysts to fans to trolls. Let’s take a look at some of the best reactions from around social media.

We understand your anger, your frustration, your sadness. Everything you’re feeling – we get it.
This isn’t the ending we imagined, and certainly not the one we wanted. Thank you for being there the entire way.

For the Jets, this could be a long offseason. They have numerous players to re-sign, including Laine and defenseman Jacob Trouba. Meanwhile, the Blues will get the luxury of waiting for their next opponents.
