On the other side of the ice, Carolina is riding a ton of momentum after their Game 7 win in double overtime. The jerks overcame a 3-2 series deficit to eliminate the defending Stanley Cup Champions. Playing with house money, Carolina is hoping their speed will take them past the Isles.
The Islanders are led by Vezina Trophy finalist goaltender Robin Lehner. He was outstanding against the Penguins and will be starting against Carolina as well. This comes despite the remarkable success backup goalie Thomas Greiss has had against them this season.
Jordan Eberle, Mathew Barzal, Ryan Pulock, Brock Nelson, Josh Bailey, Nick Leddy, and team captain Anders Lee look to keep their magical season going. Keep an eye on forward Anthony Beauvillier too, as he could be a significant difference maker in this series.
Meanwhile the Hurricanes are led by Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen. Jaccob Slavin, Justin Faulk, Calvin de Haan, Dougie Hamilton, and Brett Pesce lead an impressive blue line that can move the puck up the ice quickly.
Also, keep an eye on team captain Justin Williams, forward Andrei Svechnikov (who will be a game time decision in Game 1, Warren Foegele, and Jordan Staal. Nino Niederreiter will be facing his former team.

This game should be a great one. After watching the Blue Jackets struggle early last night, it should be interesting to see if the Islanders struggle early too. Much like the Boston Bruins, the Hurricanes will be in playoff mode after their Game 7 a few days earlier.
