70. . Forward. Metallurg Magnitogorsk (KHL). Pavel Dorofeyev. 31. player

The Boston Bruins are a darn good team. However, they could use some more top-notch talent. After all, Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand aren’t going to be elite players forever (though they should be able to maintain a high level of play). That’s why the Boston Bruins should take a chance on Pavel Dorofeyev.

He’s going to take a while to develop. There’s also the inherent risk of him deciding not to come over to North America. I don’t think the latter will be an issue, though. Though Dorofeyev put up merely two points in 23 games with Metallurg Magnitogorsk, he’s far from the only excellent young forward who has struggled there.

His work in the MHL with Stalnye Lisy Magnitogorsk was quite impressive. He was well over a point per game there, posting 31 points in 19 games. Dorofeyev has a tendency to be a bit of a perimeter player, but his skill is undeniable. Once his frame fills out, he should be more comfortable playing closer to the crease.

The only way you’re getting great talent at this stage of the draft is if you take some chances. There are some very intriguing players in the draft, but Dorofeyev is my favorite one who’s available. The Bruins would be all over Leason if he’s available here. You couldn’t create a more ideal Bruins forward in a high-tech lab.
