The 2019 NHL offseason should be full of some wild NHL trade rumors. Here are five moves that make plenty of sense and need to happen.

Every offseason, NHL fans get to see a handful of major trades that shake up the landscape of the NHL. With all the NHL trade rumors flying around, 2019 promises to be no different. There should be some huge trades this summer.

Take one quick look at the trade bait list compiled by TSN’s Frank Seravalli, and you can’t help but get antsy about the upcoming offseason. The 2019 free agent class is loaded with perennial All-Stars and future Hall of Famers, but this year’s trade market has the chance to be one of the craziest in recent memory.

There are plenty of Cup contenders that face tricky cap situations, such as the Pittsburgh Penguins and Winnipeg Jets. As such, those teams need to make sacrifices and move out some notable players in order to keep their respective cores intact.

On the flip side, there are some 2019 non-playoff teams that may just be one or two big-time transaction moves away from reaching Stanley Cup status. This year’s St. Louis Blues and Boston Bruins are prime examples of how you can go from playoff bubble team to championship contention by making just a couple of tweaks to your roster.

The 2019 NHL draft class is loaded with major talents, so it’ll be interesting to see how many teams are willing to package their draft selections for an impact veteran player. Add it all up, and it’s shaping up to be a memorable summer full of blockbuster NHL trades.
