Yes, another Metropolitan Division team. It would be weird for the Devils to trade Taylor Hall within the division, but they’d be foolish to immediately eliminate seven potentially interested teams. The Philadelphia Flyers are reportedly looking to be aggressive this summer. You don’t get much more aggressive than trading for a former Hart Trophy winner.
The Flyers best trade chip might be defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere. He’d be a great asset for the Devils and would immediately be their top defenseman. Obviously, there would have to be more included in the deal, such as a top prospect or a first-round pick. But Gostisbehere is a great place to start for a return.
Philadelphia is looking to upgrade their roster after a disappointing season. Also, general manager Chuck Fletcher is looking to make his mark on the roster. Trading for, and potentially extending, Hall would be a heck of a way to make a mark.
The Flyers have to find a way to keep up with everybody in the Metropolitan Division. Adding Hall would give them one of the best top-six forward groups in the NHL. The Flyers have the pieces necessary to tempt the Devils, even after factoring in the likely higher price thanks to them being division rivals.
