San Jose Sharks vs. Vegas Golden Knights: Start time, live stream, TV info
Opening Night of the 2019-20 NHL season will feature a grudge match between the San Jose Sharks and Vegas Golden Knights starting at 10:30 p.m. EST. Here’s how you can watch all the action.
The 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs were wild. One of the wildest series was the first-round matchup between the San Jose Sharks and Vegas Golden Knights. The Knights committed a controversial penalty while leading 3-0 in Game 7, giving the Sharks a five minute power play. San Jose took the lead, and though Vegas tied it, the Sharks wound up winning in overtime.
Both teams have had their disdain for one another marinate over the offseason. Tempers should boil over on Wednesday, Oct. 2, starting at 10:30 p.m. EST when the Golden Knights host the Sharks.

It will be the first time the two teams have faced each other in a meaningful game since that fateful night. When the Sharks and Golden Knights squared off in the preseason, it became clear there’s still a lot of bad blood between the two rivals.
The Golden Knights are hoping to get some redemption for their Game 7 loss back in April. Led by Mark Stone, William Karlsson, and Jon Marchessault, Vegas has one of the most impressive rosters in the NHL. Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury will look to continue to be the main guy in the crease.
Vegas has built an impressive roster despite only being in the NHL for the past two seasons. With their moves over the past 14 months, it’s impressive the Golden Knights are already pushing in their chips to try to win a Stanley Cup. In the past 14 months, they’ve traded for Mark Stone and Max Pacioretty, who were two of their best players in the postseason.
On the other side of the ice, the Sharks will look a bit different, thanks to the departure of long-time captain Joe Pavelski. He signed with the Dallas Stars during this offseason. The Sharks, though, still have a formidable team. They’re led by their two Norris Trophy-winning defensemen, Erik Karlsson and Brent Burns.
The Sharks, even without Pavelski, still have a solid forward core. They’re led by new team captain Logan Couture, Timo Meier, Kevin Labanc, and the timeless Joe Thornton. Evander Kane will not be playing tonight, as he has been suspended for three games for his actions in the Sharks last preseason game.

These two teams clearly do not like each other. Expect a hard-hitting, fast-paced game between two teams hoping to bring home the Stanley Cup for the first time. My prediction is the Golden Knights will win 5-2.
