The 2019-2020 NHL season is underway. There have been some great games and some heartfelt moments. Here are three feel-good stories of the week.
Perhaps midterm season has gotten you down. Or your fantasy team isn’t doing as well as you thought. Maybe your favorite team isn’t off to the best start to their season.
Either way, these three stories from around the NHL will be sure to bring some warmth and fuzziness into your heart.
1. Laila Anderson
It all started with the St. Louis Blues. Superfan Laila Anderson became friends with Colton Parayko and Alexander Steen last spring. She was an inspiration to the team throughout their historic Stanley Cup run. When the Blues won the Cup, she was on the ice and even got to lift it with the help from Parayko.
It was a heartfelt story but it wasn’t done yet. On Tuesday, both Parayko and Steen surprised Anderson with a visit to her home and hand-delivered her very own Stanley Cup ring. The gift moved her to tears and probably anyone who watched the video as well.

It was a very classy move done by the Blues that young Laila will never forget.
2. Baby Shark
Erik Karlsson and his wife Melinda Karlsson went through a very tough year in 2018 when their first child was stillborn. The loss was very difficult to deal with and Karlsson took some time off to deal with the tragedy.
Well, the Karlssons have officially welcomed their new baby girl, Harlow Rain, into the world as Erik announced with his Instagram post. The caption warmed hearts as Karlsson thanked his wife for her strength and determination.
It was a great moment for the Karlssons and no one deserved some great news more than Erik.
3. Zibanejad selfie
New York Rangers center Mika Zibanejad has been having the week of his life. He currently leads the NHL in points (eight) and has four goals and four assists in his first two games of the season. Before his second game against the Ottawa Senators, Zibanejad noticed a young fan with a poster asking for a selfie.
He skated over and made the fan’s wish come true and reduced the young boy into tears. Zibanejad later went on to score a hat trick and record an assist. It’s little selfless acts like these that make people fall in love with the game and the Swedish center man made a fan for life with his gesture of kindness.
The NHL season is underway and with it comes some incredible moments between players and fans. If the league truly wants to grow the game, it’s stories like these that endear the sport to the fans and make them come back for more. Here’s to more heartfelt moments in the 2019-2020 season.
