Capitals vs. Panthers: Betting odds, injuries, Jakub Vrana is heating up
The Florida Panthers welcome the Washington Capitals to the BB&T Center on Thursday, November 6. Here is all the info you need to prepare for what should be a competitive game.
The Washington Capitals are firing on all cylinders, as they’ve won four straight games. They’ve gotten at least one point in nine of their last 10 games, with an 8-1-1 record during that span. The Caps will take their 7-1-1 record on the road south on Thursday, Nov. 6 as they travel to Sunrise, Florida to take on the Florida Panthers.
Much like the Capitals, the Cats have been playing great hockey as of late. They have won two straight games and have won three of their last five, as well as four of their last six. The Panthers have a 3-1-1 record at home this season, so they should be a good test for the Caps. This game will feature some high-scoring stars.

FLORIDA PANTHERS
Panthers forward Jonathan Huberdeau has been red hot with four goals and five points in his last two games. Huberdeau has two consecutive games with multiple goals. He also has eight points in his last five games. Huberdeau has 18 points (nine goals and nine assists) in 14 games this season.
Captain Aleksander Barkov has 17 points. Nine of those points have come in the last five games. Much like Huberdeau, he has multiple points in each of his last two games. In 15 career games against Washington, Barkov has 13 points.
Sergei Bobrovsky will likely start in goal for the Panthers. He’s coming off his first shutout with his new team. Bobrovsky is a familiar foe for Washington, as he has faced them 25 times, but this is the first time he’ll be facing them as a member of the Panthers. The former Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender has a 9-11-4 record in the regular season against the Caps with a .904 save percentage.
WASHINGTON CAPITALS
The Capitals will counter Huberdeau with a scorching hot forward of their own in Jakub Vrana. Vrana has at least one point in each of his last five games and at least one goal in three of his last five. Furthermore, he has scored multiple goals in each of his last two games. Vrana picked up the first hat trick of his young career on Sunday against the Calgary Flames. On the season, he has nine goals and 14 points in 16 games.
Defenseman John Carlson had an October to remember, as the star blue liner had 23 points in 14 games. In two November games, he has yet to pick up a point, but he has a plus-minus rating of +4 so far this month.
When one thinks of the Capitals, captain Alex Ovechkin is the first name that pops into everyone’s head. The Great Eight continues to score goals at an outstanding rate, as he already has 11 goals this season. Ovechkin loves to face Florida, as his 36 career goals against them is tied for his fifth-most against any franchise.
Branden Holtby will be the starting goalie for the Capitals. He has a 6-1-3 record so far this season and though he has a .895% save percentage, it’s worth noting his save percentage has been over .900% in each of his last five games.
WEATHER FORECAST
If you’re heading to the BB&T Center on Thursday, expect relatively cool temperatures. According to The Weather Channel, Thursday is projected to be party cloudy, with the high around 85°F and the low around 76°F.
