Led once again by Sergei Bobrovsky, the Florida Panthers won their second straight game, this time over the San Jose Sharks 5-1.
The Florida Panthers picked up another win last night over the San Jose Sharks in dominating back-to-back performances, thanks in part to Sergei Bobrovsky’s stellar goaltending and the Panthers much-improved defense.
Now, before I get to the recap of the game, I just wanted to briefly discuss the positive impact that this whole sports article writing experience has brought me. I’m in quite a few Panthers fan groups on Facebook and prior to me getting into writing these articles, I kinda just felt like I was there in the groups. I’d comment occasionally and post pictures and statuses and it was nice. However, now, I’ve seemed to have cultivated my own little “following” if you will.

I have people who literally comment on my articles that they can’t wait to read my next one, and they always have nothing but high praise to offer. I’ve got friends outside of my Panthers groups that wait until my articles are released just to share them with others and that means so much to me. I have some people that stop me in the arena and say something like “Oh, you’re Kaitlin right? I love reading your articles. Can’t wait to read the next one.”
My confidence in my abilities as a writer have bolstered significantly since joining FanSided and specifically Puck Prose and I absolutely love doing this. So thank you to all the readers, thank you to all my “fans”, and I anticipate on continuing this journey for a long time to come. Now, let’s get to the recap of last night’s game.
The first goal was scored by Keith Yandle and assisted by Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov on the power play at the 4:31 mark of the first period to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. Next up was the captain, as Barkov scored, assisted by Evgenii Dadonov and Huberdeau, at the 8:15 mark of the first period to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead and raise Barkov’s amount donated to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital to $16,000.
The next goal scored in the first period belonged to Kevin Labanc, assisted by Evander Kane and Erik Karlsson at the 10:13 mark on the power play to make the score 2-1 Panthers. Spoiler alert: the rest of the game was all Panthers!
In the second period, Mike Matheson, assisted by Frank Vatrano and Aaron Ekblad, scored the lone goal of the period at the 6:32 mark to make the score 3-1 Panthers. In the third period, Brett Connolly, assisted by Yandle and Mike Hoffman made the score 4-1 Panthers on the power play at the 10:19 mark. The last goal of the game was an empty netter scored by Frank Vatrano and assisted by MacKenzie Weegar and Ekblad to ice the game and give the Panthers the win 5-1.
Some final notes to add about last night’s game. Huberdeau is now second in franchise history with total points and Barkov is tied for fourth in goals scored in franchise history. I’m going to be completely honest. I think there’s a really good chance that by the end of the regular season, Barkov and Huberdeau could have most of the records for first and second place respectively. They are a true force to be reckoned with this season as I mentioned in my previous articles and the sky is the limit for them.
Next game is a big one on Tuesday night against our inner-state rivals, the Tampa Bay Lightning. We gotta keep the win streak going and pick up these crucial points to separate ourselves from the other competitors in our division. That’s all I got for now. Thank you as always for reading and as I always say: Let’s Go Cats!
