The Chicago Blackhawks have failed to meet their expectations so far in 2019-2020, so a change is what I want for Christmas.

I have to admit that fans of the Chicago Blackhawks have been quite lucky for the past 15 years with how dominant this team was. They were so good for such a long time. It honestly may be a while before we see any team from Chicago be as good as the Blackhawks were. The Blackhawks went on to make the playoffs from 2008-2017, which was insane to watch.

The Blackhawks made it to the Western Conference Finals five times between 2008-2017 and then went on to win the Stanley Cup in 2010, 2013 and 2015. Winning the cup three times in six seasons is as close as you can get to having a dynasty, so you can say the Blackhawks had a dynasty. With all that being said, Hawks fans are still allowed to wish for things this holiday season.

As we all know that the Blackhawks have failed to meet their expectations so far this season, due to them being so inconsistent night in and night out. People have blamed the failure this season on Jeremy Colliton, including myself, but I’ve come to my sense and think general manager Stan Bowman takes more responsibility than Colliton for this team failing so far this season.

Bowman made some boneheaded trades when he traded away Teuvo Teravainen, Phillip Danault, Niklas Hjalmarsson, Henri Jokiharju, and Artemi Panarin. Not saying we’d be in a completely different position if we still had say Panarin and Jokiharju on the roster instead of Alex Nylander. One solid wish would be that the Blackhawks finally move on from Bowman.

Since Bowman decided to trade away one of the Blackhawks’ top defensive prospects in Jokiharju, another solid wish would be for them to acquire a top-four defenseman. The Blackhawks defense has been riddled with injuries so far this season, Duncan Keith had missed some time, Brent Seabrook is missing time, and Calvin De Haan is on injured reserve.

Bowman and the Blackhawks had the chance to draft defenseman Bowen Byram with the third overall pick in the 2019 NHL draft, but they decided to draft Kirby Dach instead. They need to add another top-four guy to their defense as soon as possible otherwise they will continue to give up a lot of goals.

Next. Jeremy Colliton Shouldn't be fired. dark

My next wish may be the biggest one yet. So the Blackhawks head into the Christmas break nine points out of a playoff position and they still have plenty of time to make a push for the playoffs. It would be nice to see them get on a winning streak of some sort and prove people wrong.
