Edmonton Oilers bulk up with acquisition of Tyler Ennis
The Edmonton Oilers continue to add to their offensive depth and have brought in Tyler Ennis from the Ottawa Senators. Here’s a quick breakdown of the trade.
The Edmonton Oilers added Andreas Athanasiou earlier today. But the Oilers weren’t done. They have now brought Tyler Ennis into the mix in exchange for a fifth-round pick. The speedy winger will be a solid fit into the Oilers lineup as he has plenty of speed and finishing ability. Ennis was acquired from the Ottawa Senators.
This season, Ennis has 33 points, including 14 goals, in 61 games with the Senators. With a team like the Oilers, his numbers will definitely see an improvement.

Ennis is a good depth player that can move up and down the lines if necessary and despite being on the smaller side, he plays a very physical game and has 76 hits on the season.
He can fight hard in front of the net and bury the dirty goals as well. Ennis is a player that plays hard every shift and is a good option on Connor McDavid‘s line as he can go to the corners and win pucks back for the superstar.
The best part is this is a very cheap deal. Ennis is on a one-year contract worth $800,000 so there’s no risk to this move at all. If Ennis plays very well, Ken Holland could extend him and he won’t cost too much.
Holland has done a great job bringing in fast wingers to keep up and complement his superstars. The Oilers now have actual offensive depth which makes their team an actual contender.
Adding Ennis and Athanasiou is great for their playoff run but they are also very real candidates of being signed to an extension with the team as their styles of play match up with Edmonton very well.
