The new franchise will move from the city of Chicago to the city of Henderson starting next season.

After acquiring an AHL franchise Vegas Golden Knights owner Bill Foley went to work to make the franchise a reality. The new franchise has a very similar name to the team in Vegas and will be called the Henderson Silver Knights.

The Henderson Silver Knights will begin the next season playing the Orleans arena before moving to a new arena being built in the Vegas suburb of Henderson.

Bill Foley even took the time to describe the logo and what it means for the city of Henderson.

“Henderson is a fantastic city, it’s a growth city, it’s got a great set of businesses there and people don’t really understand what Henderson is, it’s a fantastic community, it’s a family-based community so I’m excited that we are bringing our AHL affiliate to Henderson”.

One thing Mr. Foley couldn’t express anymore that this franchise was geared to families and affordability.  Ticket prices are as low as $10 a game and he really feels they can be as good as the big club on the Vegas strip.

The team had a pretty cool motto Home means Henderson and what Bill Foley was trying to convey was that he wanted the team to have the same culture as the Vegas Golden Knights. He went a step further to describe it.

“We wanted to have a culture of being the warrior of the middle class, always advance, never retreat, never give up and never give in.”

“We chose an armored horse to be the key of our logo and if you look closer at it you can see the horses eyes are golden and that signifies that the Silver Knight is working to be a Golden Knight”.

“The primary colors are Silver, Black, and Gold which will most likely be the colors of the team’s jersey. You will also notice the letter H which of course means Henderson and the city the team plays in.”

The new arena currently being built should carry a capacity of 6,100 people which makes it a nice intimate arena for families to go and enjoy the game of hockey without having to pay top dollar. Not a surprise the Henderson Silver Knights have already passed their capacity with 7,600 ticket deposits for season tickets.

Bill also announced he has already some amazing partnerships and has started the Silver Society which has 16 different partners that will be part of their sponsorship group, they will get exclusive access to players and certain events and they are also announcing a partnership with News 3 Las Vegas a local TV station which has a cluster of stations and will broadcast 10 home games live next year.

We even got a chance to hear from the mayor of Henderson Debra March who couldn’t be happier with the team.

“What a thrill, it was so exciting to see the announcement, Bill Foley explanation what the Silver Knights are all about, what the logo is all about, we couldn’t be more thrilled in Henderson to be a partner with the Vegas Golden Knights family”.

She even spoke about the slogan Home means Henderson and what it meant for her.

“We are a very family-oriented community and having worked with the Golden Knights on a handful of issues whether it’s the Lifeguard arena, the event center, they are very family-oriented, very community-oriented and so having that partnership, we work together and we share values I just see a very strong partnership moving forward in the coming years”.

She was thrilled to have the city name included in the team name as well.

“As the mayor of the city of Henderson I am incredibly proud and I know that the people of Henderson are proud and embrace the team and embrace what they bring to our community and sports and recreation and parks and open space have always been a part of our DNA and seeing this commitment by the Golden Knights to bring the Silver Knights to our community to name the team the Henderson Silver Knights I couldn’t be prouder.”

There was even a chance to chat with Ben Jones who spent this past season playing in Chicago for the Wolves in the AHL to get his thoughts on the new franchise.

“Yeah it’s pretty astonishing, it’s a gorgeous logo and you can see all the details that went into it, you see the chainmail and the rivets that lead into the first season, just all the detail you can see a lot of work was put in. It looks gorgeous and it’s going to look unbelievable on some jerseys that we will wear”.

Jones was a seventh round pick two years ago by the Vegas Golden Knights and he took the time to give his thoughts on the progress the Vegas Golden Knights have made.

“That first season was pretty much a cinderella story for the Golden Knights, I don’t think obviously the Stanley Cup was the goal but making it to the finals was a pretty amazing accomplishment in itself.”

“I think every record was pretty much broken that year so that in itself was amazing, going forward it’s been three years now and it feels like it was yesterday so being part of this new franchise hopefully getting to break some new records in that regard is something I’m looking forward to and I can’t wait for whenever we get back to it”.

Another huge step was taken for this young franchise looking to grow and develop young players into NHL superstars. We can only wait for another inaugural season to commence and once they get the green light I’m sure we will be in for another historical season only this time in the AHL and the city of Henderson.
