The Vegas Golden Knights are keeping goaltender Oscar Dansk around for another year.

On Thursday, Vegas Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon announced the Knights and goaltender Oscar Dansk had agreed to terms on an extension. The contract is a one year deal valued at $700,000.

Dansk only appeared in one game this past season for the Golden Knights, but played 35 games in the AHL with the Chicago Wolves. He finished with an 18-12-4 record and a 2.57 goals-against average while posting a .908% save percentage. With the Golden Knights, Dansk allowed six goals in his lone appearance.

In his career, he has only played five games with the big club, going 3-1-0 with a 2.98 goals against average and a .915% save percentage. Back in 2018-19, Dansk had a record of 27-13-2 with a 2.46 goals against average and a .913% save percentage in the AHL.

His record in the Calder Cup playoffs is 10-9-0 while also having a 2.48 GAA and a .911% save percentage while leading his team the Chicago Wolves to the Calder Cup Final.

In the Golden Knights inaugural season back in 2017-18, Dansk had a perfect record of 3-0 with a 1.78 GAA and a .946% save percentage.

That year, he also spent time in Chicago going 13-3-2 with a 2.44 GAA and a .918% save percentage. The Stockholm native originally signed with the team back on July 1st, 2017, and also re-signed a year later.

This is a key signing for Vegas future in net and as well as possibly fight for a backup position on the NHL lineup. Vegas has used at least 5 different goalies as backups in a span of three years. They will need to find the stability in that position to take the pressure off Marc-Andre Fleury.

They will need to find a goalie that will be able to play 20-25 games in case of a situation where they are not able to resign Robin Lehner but I am sure that will be an unlikely scenario. At that point, Dansk could prove vital at that number three spot on the depth chart. A key signing leading into a format where the roster has been expanded and teams are allowed to bring more than two goaltenders.
