Bruins forward David Pastrnak thinks Tom Wilson’s the best goal scorer
David Pastrnak of the Bruins might have lost his cellphone, as he tweeted that Tom Wilson is the best goal scorer in the league.
The Stanley Cup Playoffs are coming up. Playoff teams are off in their bubbles, with Eastern Conference teams living in Toronto and Western Conference teams living in Edmonton. Ever since the hotel assignments were announced, everyone knew Hotel X in Toronto could have some shenanigans. Those shenanigans have started, as Boston Bruins star forward David Pastrnak tweeted out that Tom Wilson of the Washington Capitals is the best goal scorer in the league.
Suspiciously, Wilson quickly tweeted back at Pastrnak even though Pastrnak didn’t even mention Wilson’s username on Twitter.

While Wilson is a better player than most fans give him credit for, it’s pretty safe to say he is not the NHL’s top goal scorer. He’s not even the best goal scorer on his own team, as Alex Ovechkin, T.J. Oshie, and Jakub Vrana each scored more goals than Wilson’s 21. This season marked the second straight time Wilson has scored at least 20 goals in a season.
Even if you look at goals per game, Wilson ranked 81st among the 477 players who played in at least 50 games this season. Pastrnak is paying quite the compliment to him, but he’s objectively wrong.
Now, the big question on everyone’s mind is what happened. Why did this tweet happen? Did Pastnrak suddenly just think his pal Tom Wilson’s the best goal scorer in the league? Let’s review the options!
1. Wilson Got A Hold Of Pastrnak’s Phone
This is probably the most likely option. After all, let’s remember Wilson quickly tweeted back at Pastrnak.
2. Brad Marchand Did It
Actually, this is the most likely option. Brad Marchand loves to mess with people on Twitter. Maybe he got bored of doing it from his own account and decided to do it from Pastrnak’s account after getting a hold of his phone. Pastrnak might have just learned a valuable lesson – don’t let Marchand get a hold of your Twitter account.
Putting the Bruins, Capitals, Penguins, Flyers, and Lightning in the same hotel was the chaotic option for the NHL. Shenanigans were inevitable. It wasn’t a matter of if they would happen, it was a matter of when they would happen. It’s clear they’ve already started! Whatever’s going on at Hotel X, let’s hope it keeps going on.
