The Vegas Golden Knights will play their first game in 4 months when they faceoff against the Arizona Coyotes in their one and only exhibition game.

It’s been a long wait for Vegas Golden Knights fans but we are finally here, The Golden Knights will play their first game in over four months when they play the Arizona Coyotes tonight at 10 pm est at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta.

The team has been in Edmonton since last Sunday getting ready for the round-robin and the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. As noted the game will be played in an empty building that seems to be getting some great reviews for the way it was done.

The 12 additional camera angles give the feeling of a Winter Classic or World Cup feel to it and the players are responding well to it. Vegas Golden Knights head coach Pete Deboer has already confirmed Marc-Andre Fleury will get the call in net but has gone on record to say Robin Lehner could be seen during the playoffs.

Max Pacioretty, unfortunately, is the only player that will not play tonight, He didn’t travel with the team due to an undisclosed injury and is currently recovering. We have not gotten an update on his status but due to the fact, this is a tune-up game probably better for Vegas to be safe than sorry.

The last time the Golden Knights actually played a hockey game ironically was against the Edmonton Oilers in which they won 3-2 in overtime, Shea Theodore scored the game-winner to seal the victory.

The Golden Knights and the Coyotes faced off 3 times in the regular season and the Knights got 4 points from those 3 encounters and won the season series 2-1. The Arizona Coyotes finished 5th in the Pacific Divison and 11th in the Western Conference. They will have to count on solid goaltending from Antti Raanta or Darcy Kuemper in net, on the defensive end Oliver Ekman-Larsson while the offense will come from Phill Kessel and Taylor Hall. Clayton Keller will also be a player the Golden Knights will have to keep an eye on.

The last time the Coyotes made the playoffs was 2012 and that run was pretty memorable as they made the Western Final but haven’t made the playoffs since. In regards to the Golden Knights, they will be looking to avenge last year first-round exit at the hands of the San Jose Sharks.

If you don’t remember Vegas had a 3-1 series lead and was leading in game 7 by a score of 4-1 before the Sharks made an epic comeback for the ages winning 5-4 in overtime. While the Knights will be playing Round-Robin the Coyotes have a date with the Nashville Predators in the Stanley Cup qualifiers. The game can be watched on NHL Network, NHL.TV, FS-A Plus, and ATT Sportsnet in Vegas.
