Can the Toronto Maple Leafs tie up their Stanley Cup Playoffs play-in round series against the Columbus Blue Jackets?

The Stanley Cup Playoffs play-in round series between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets took an interesting turn in Sunday’s Game 1, as the Blue Jackets surprised the Maple Leafs by beating them 2-0. On Tuesday, the Leafs will get a chance to even up the series.

Game 2 is a must-win for Toronto. A loss would put them down 2-0 in the best-of-five series. Only one NHL team has ever come back from a 2-0 deficit in a best-of-five series. That was the New York Islanders, who did so against the Washington Capitals in the 1980s.

Meanwhile, Columbus will look to put Toronto behind the eight-ball with another win. Their defense has frustrated the Leafs so far. Will that continue in Game 2? If it does, the Jackets have a great chance of winning.

ODDS

According to Odds Shark, here are the betting lines for today’s game.

  • CBJ: +130
  • TOR: -150
  • Over-under: 5.5

INJURIES

Josh Anderson will not be playing for the Blue Jackets. He has missed most of the regular season with various injuries. Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs will be sans Andreas Johnsson, who is still recovering from an injury suffered during the regular season.

PREVIEW

COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS

Last year, the Blue Jackets swept the Tampa Bay Lightning thanks to an opportunistic offense and a stifling defense. Both were on display in Game 1, as the Jackets kept the high-octane Leafs offense off the scores sheet. Joonas Korpisalo looked sharp in net as well. He’ll be getting the start again in Game 2.

TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS

On the other side of the ice, the Maple Leafs have to find a way to break through Columbus’s tough defense. They also have to negate their forecheck, as they wreaked havoc in the Leafs zone throughout Game 1. As expected, Frederik Andersen will be in goal for the Leafs.
