Robin Lehner’s shutout leads Vegas Golden Knights to Game 3 win
The Vegas Golden Knights were looking for a 2-1 series lead and they did just that.
The Vegas Golden Knights and the Vancouver Canucks resumed their series tonight and it was a thrilling encounter. Robin Lehner got the start with Game 4 happening tomorrow night on a back to back situation. The Canucks had an early chance on the powerplay when Jonathan Marchessault was called 90 seconds into the contest for tripping.
However, the Golden Knights did a wonderful job killing the penalty and you could tell even after not playing for 48 hours they came ready to play. They even scored the first goal of the game when Nicholas Roy gave a great pass that sprung Alex Tuch on a breakaway and he made no mistake top shelf for the early 1-0 lead.
The Knights kept the pressure going and less than two minutes later Zach Whitecloud scored his first-ever playoff goal when got the puck and fired it blocker side on Jacob Markstrom to increase Vegas lead to two. The Canucks had a chance to get on the board once again when they were gifted a 5 on 3 two-man advantage.

Robin Lehner came up huge on the penalty making save after save to keep his club lead and keep the Canucks off the score sheet. The first period ended on that score and the Golden Knights went to the locker room up 2-0.
In the second period, both teams were unable to get on the scoresheet but it was still a great period with lots of action with both teams going back and forth. Vegas continued to control most of the game outshooting the Canucks to try and increase their lead. Nicholas Roy with 30 seconds left in the period took a slashing penalty and the Golden Knights would enter the third period with 90 seconds left to kill.
The Knights were able to kill off the penalty and then got another chance on the powerplay when the Canucks got called for too many men on the ice. Mark Stone would make them pay scoring a goal on the powerplay a minute into the man advantage when he got the puck and once again Markstrom was beaten top shelf.
Vancouver did everything they could but the night honestly belonged to Robin Lehner who was due to a bounce back after losing Game 2. The Knights would win Game 3 3-0 and now had less than 24 hours to recover before they would be back on the ice for Game 4 which goes tomorrow night at 7:30 pm Pacific time.
Robin Lehner’s shutout was the first of his career in the playoffs and will surely have the night off due to the fact it’s a back to back and Marc-Andre Fleury is ready to go.
