In the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Tampa Bay Lightning can clinch their spot in the Stanley Cup Final with a win over the New York Islanders in Game 5.

Last night, the Dallas Stars punched their ticket to the Stanley Cup Final after beating the Vegas Golden Knights in five games. On Tuesday night, the Tampa Bay Lightning will get a chance to do the same in their Stanley Cup Playoffs series against the New York Islanders. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EST.

Game 4 saw the Bolts respond well after a Game 3 loss, as they beat the Isles 4-1 to take a 3-1 series lead. Brock Nelson’s goal gave the Islanders a 1-0 lead, but it only took the Lightning 27 seconds to grab the lead they wouldn’t relinquish thanks to goals from Blake Coleman and Ondrej Palat.

On the other side of the ice, the Isles face an elimination game that’s not a Game 7 for the first time this postseason. You can be sure Barry Trotz’s club won’t go down without a good, hard fight.

But with several of their forwards out, you have to wonder how much the Isles have left in the tank. They’ll try to become just the second team in NHL history to overcome a 3-1 deficit in a Conference Final.

UPDATED ODDS

According to Odds Shark, here are the updated odds for Game 5.

  • NYI: +155
  • TBL: -175
  • Over/under: 5 goals

STARTING GOALTENDERS

The Tampa Bay Lightning are going with Andrei Vasilevskiy. He has started every postseason game for them, so this shouldn’t be a surprise. Vasilevskiy has been great thus far, posting a .930% save percentage in the postseason.

On the other side of the ice, things are a bit more murky for the New York Islanders. It’s not known if they’ll go with Semyon Varlamov or Thomas Greiss. Varlamov has started most of their games this postseason, but maybe they’ll go with Greiss in Game 5.
